Saints Rugby Academy Update.

After a lot of thought and some difficult conversations, I’ve made the decision to put Saints Rugby Academy on hold for the time being.

This is honestly a difficult decision because the academy means a lot to me. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible young players, watching them grow, develop their confidence and become better rugby players and better people.

I’m extremely grateful to every player and parent who trusted me and supported the academy. Your belief in what we were trying to build has meant more to me than you probably realise.

At this point, I need to take a step back and prioritise my family and the commitments that are most important to me. Running the academy requires a lot of time, energy and commitment, and I don’t want to continue unless I know I can give our players the standard of coaching and support they deserve.

This is not necessarily goodbye forever. For now, I’m simply pressing pause, taking some time with my family, and reassessing what the future looks like.

To all our players, keep working hard, keep enjoying the game, look after each other and always remember that rugby is about more than what happens on the field.

Good afternoon Saints Family,

I hope you are all doing well. It has been a little while since our last update, and I realised I had not yet shared the photos from our recent Saints Rugby Academy event.

We are truly grateful to our Heavenly Father for blessing Coach Tui and myself with the opportunity to continue building and carrying out our vision of helping young players in the west develop their rugby union skills, confidence, and love for the game.

We would also like to sincerely thank all the parents for the trust and support you continue to show our Academy. Your belief in what we are striving to achieve means a great deal to us. Our greatest hope is that each child continues to grow in skill, discipline, confidence, and character as they progress through each season.

Every one of our Saints players is incredibly talented. Our focus has always been on mastering the fundamentals until they become second nature. We truly believe these young athletes will make a positive difference within their teams this year through their hard work, commitment, and development.

Parents, we encourage you to celebrate your child’s progress and successes throughout the season, no matter how small they may seem. Growth comes through consistency, effort, and confidence, and every step forward matters.

As we look ahead, we are excited for another season and look forward to seeing returning and new faces at Saints Rugby Academy. Whether your journey continues with us or the Lord leads you elsewhere, we pray that you and your families will continue to be safe, happy, and blessed in your next steps.

Registrations for the upcoming season will open soon, so please be sure to secure your spot early to avoid missing out.

Didn’t get the chance to take pictures of our work today, but today marked a special day for our boys wearing their kit.

They look sharp in it. We hope they will be proud of it because they worked hard for it. Missing a couple of Saints but glad they were willing to smile after a killer session in the heat.

Today was more than just receiving a training kit for our Saints Rugby Academy boys. This jersey isn’t just fabric, it’s a commitment. It represents the early mornings, the hard sessions, the discipline when no one is watching, and the sacrifices made by their parents who support them every step of the way. When they put it on, they’re not just representing themselves, they’re representing their family, their brothers beside them, and the standard we are building at Saints.

This is about character over talent, discipline over hype, and serving something bigger than self. One day, people will look back and say these boys were the foundation, the first chapter of our legacy. Wear it with pride, wear it with humility, and remember this is history in the making.

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared an update on the boys and our Academy journey.
We’ve been quietly putting in the work since the second Saturday of January, and it’s been a blessing to see the growth not just as rugby players, but as young people becoming better versions of themselves.

If you’re local, feel free to share the word about our small Academy family. We’re looking to grow our numbers heading into the end-of-year off-season, with a cap of 20 athletes. Boys and girls are more than welcome to join.
