Fremantle takes on Brisbane in the 2026 AFL Grand Final this Saturday — and we’re watching it in air-conditioned comfort at PGFC.

🎣 SEPTEMBER SPECIES CHALLENGE — HOW ARE YOU TRACKING?

We’re into the final stretch of the month, so it’s time to check what’s still missing from your list.

Remember, every eligible catch needs:
• a glory photo with the angler and fish
• a clear measure photo showing the full fish and length
• a stubby cooler visible in every measure photo
• to be uploaded to the September Species Challenge event in the PGFC Mobile App

The goal is all 10 target species by 30 September.

If nobody catches all 10, the winner will be the angler who catches the highest number of different target species. If there’s a tie, combined length will decide it.

Two coordinators. One fishing club. 37 events.

Emma and Leeanne put CPC together with the Palmerston Game Fishing Club and a crew of volunteers who give up their weekends because they care about Territory fishing. No paid staff. Just people who've been showing up for a long time and want to keep it going.

If you've ever volunteered at CPC — set up, safety check on the water, handed out prizes after a long day — this one's for you. And if you want to be part of the crew for 2026, get in touch.

The Mega Marlows Lawn Sale Trail is on today, and there’s plenty happening at the Palmerston Game Fishing Club.

A big thank you to Simon for taking the lead on the PGFC car boot sale today. It’s been a great morning and the club is already talking about doing it again — bigger next time.

If you’re out bargain hunting, make sure you stop by the club and see us along the trail.

We’ll also have space in the club car park for members who’d like to set up a table and sell their own pre-loved items.

Committee member Simon will be there on the day and can help with car park table enquiries.

From Barra to Boots! 🎣 🥾🏜️

One of our PGFC juniors, Hayden Barratt has swapped the fishing rod for hiking boot and today begins a pretty extraordinary challenge with his family — 322 km across the Simpson Desert in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Grandad, son and 2 grandkids of the Barratt family had a goal; raise $20,000 and they’re now incredibly close.

If you’d like to get behind them and help push the fundraising over the line, every donation counts. ❤️

When things get a little… sticky, it’s good to know there are Territory businesses willing to lend a hand. 😅

A big thank you to Fletcher and the team at EcoTreat Solutions NT for responding quickly when our caretaker’s septic system needed some attention recently.

They were on site as soon as they were notified and got the job sorted for us.
