Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about the Judokas out there - the classic, uchi mata.

Judo has the coolest take downs we've seen, the aerial acrobatics of judokas are pretty insane. From the slickest throws to the most freakish mid-air counters that look like they're in the matrix.

We wanted to give a nod to the martial art that started it all for BJJ.

IN THE STUDIO

I've been working on more concepts and ideas for club and brand merch. What I've noticed is most clubs have their logo on a shirt. Nothing wrong with that, but it's boring.

If it's not a club logo its probably some goofy stock "bjj" artwork.

Kakuto Culture is officially closed.

The retail merch side of the business is done.

After our son’s health changed our family’s reality, we had to be honest about what retail takes — stock, fulfilment, launches, admin, customer service, and a level of time we just don’t have in the same way anymore.

But Kakuto isn’t disappearing.

We’re moving forward as Kakuto Studios: an artwork and design studio creating licensed, merch-ready artwork for BJJ clubs, martial arts gyms and fightwear brands.

We’re still creating.
Still obsessed with Japanese-inspired artwork, fight culture and merch that actually feels considered.

We’re just no longer running Kakuto as a traditional retail clothing brand.

From here, clubs can license Kakuto artwork for their own merch drops. For Australian clubs, we can also help with DTF decoration on AS Colour blanks.

Thank you to everyone who supported Kakuto Culture.

That chapter mattered.
