Victorian Vision Impaired Table Tennis Association

Victorian Vision Impaired Table Tennis Association VI table tennis is a sport that is played by blind and visually-impaired people and has been around for over 70 years.

We play at a number of venues around Victoria. For further information, please email our Secretary directly or message us on this page. Victorian Vision Impaired Table Tennis Association (VVITTA) represents and supports vision impaired table tennis clubs across Victoria. Our affiliated clubs are vibrant, welcoming, and competitive organisations, with members who have achieved success at both domes

tic and national tournament level. Vision impaired table tennis is a modified version of the sport that enables people who are blind, vision impaired, and fully sighted to play together in an inclusive and supportive environment. The sport promotes physical activity, skill development, confidence, and community connection, while maintaining a strong competitive pathway for those who wish to compete at higher levels. VVITTA is committed to fostering participation at all levels — from beginners discovering the sport for the first time, to experienced players representing Victoria and Australia. We value inclusivity, sportsmanship, accessibility, and the social benefits that come from being part of a connected sporting community. Whether you are blind, vision impaired, fully sighted, a prospective player, volunteer, supporter, or simply interested in learning more about the sport, we warmly invite you to get involved. For further information, please message our page or contact our Secretary at [email protected].

Announcement Of The 2024 VVITTA Nationals

Hi everyone,

It is my pleasure to share the fixture and other important information for the 2024 VVITTA Nationals.

This year, Nationals are being held between Friday the 18th and Sunday the 20th of October at Vision Australia (454 Glenferrie Road in Kooyong).

There is a lot of information in this post, so please take the time to read it carefully. If you are not participating, you are very welcome to come along to spectate.

The fixture is attached to this email. There will also be a small number of Braille and print copies available.

The official VVITTA rules and code of conduct are also attached. Everyone involved in the tournament must abide by these two documents during the weekend.

Running times for the tournament are as follows:
Friday: 5:00pm until 10:00pm, with an hour for dinner at 6:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am until 5:25pm, with an hour for lunch at 1:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am until 6:45pm, with an hour for lunch at 1:00pm

Please avoid arriving at Kooyong prior to 4:30 on Friday afternoon to allow those of us setting up plenty of time and space to do so.

Please also ensure you allow yourself plenty of time to get to Kooyong prior to the start of play to avoid forfeiting any of your matches. If you leave Vision Australia during the day for any reason, you will also need to ensure you are back in time for your next match as we will not have the time to wait for you.

When you arrive, you will need to call any of the following people to be let inside:
Cass (on 0400 671 926)
Marco (on 0412 128 429)
Robyn (on 0417 159 106)

We will be providing dinner on Friday night and lunches on Saturday and Sunday to anyone involved in the tournament, including players and volunteers. You will get a free can of soft drink with each meal.

If you have any dietary requirements but have not shared these with me, please ensure you do so no later than Friday the 11th.

We will also have chips, chocolates and cans of soft drink for sale for $2 each. We will not be selling water this year, so please remember to bring your drink bottle with you so you can refill it using the filter tap. Purchases can be made using cash or EFTPOS, but please be aware that EFTPOS purchases will incur a 1.9% transaction fee.

For those who would like to join us for dinner on Saturday, I have booked the Malvern Hotel (on the corner of Glenferrie and Malvern Roads in Toorak) for 6:00pm. This will be at your own expense. You can view the menu here.

As Vision Australia have only just replaced the floors in the conference centre, we ask that you do not wear any high healed shoes in the building.

If you have not yet paid your $90 entry fee, please do this ASAP. I have included the bank account details below (and please don’t forget to include your name in the reference):

Account Name: Vic Swish
BSB: 033002
Account Number: 326056

As always, don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

I look forward to catching up with many of you then!

A huge thanks to Jenny Forbes from the Frankston Vision Impaired Table Tennis Club for co-ordinating with the ABC in order to get this article out.

Usually in table tennis the aim is to hit the ball over the net, but in swish — aka vision impaired table tennis — a clever variation makes the sport accessible to all.

Hi all,

Congratulations on being selected to represent Victoria in the 2023 Grand Prix. The teams that we have selected are as follows:

Ethan and Marco
Mark and Robyn
Frank and Rocky

The Grand Prix is taking place in Brisbane from Friday the 26th until Sunday the 28th of May.

The entry fee for the Grand Prix is $70. Please transfer this into VVITTA’s bank account ASAP so I can forward it to Brisbane Swish on your behalf.

Flights will be at your own expense, and you will need to make your own travel plans.

VVITTA will organize the accommodation. We are currently exploring ways that we can help subsidise this, but you may still end up being out of pocket for some of the cost of an Air BNB. I will be in touch as soon as I know more.

As always, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
