Judo Central Coast has two Club locations,
Chittaway Bay Public School Hall - Chittaway Rd Chittaway Bay. Erina Permanent Dojo @ The Lifestyle Centre, Chiltern Rd Erina. Kugatsu at Chittaway Bay & Erina is the largest Judo Club on the Coast and offers 18 classes per week, ranging from a Special Needs class, to various age groups for the beginner & recreational judoka. 3-4yrs,5-8yrs,8-12yrs, Teena

gers, Female Only classes and Adult Recreational Judo. Kugatsu has the most extensive and experienced coaching staff, including 2 x Olympic Coach Angela Deacon, 10 x Australian & Oceania medalist Shane Alvisio who holds an (IJF) International level 1 Coaching Accreditation, Former British & Australian Champion and Olympic shadow team member (2000) Colin Gibbons, Japanese trained and 2 x World Police Games medalist Shane Hobbs, and Australian Universities Champion and Dr in Exercise Physiology Xanne Janse de Jonge. Mondays @ Erina: 5-8yrs 4.30pm, 9-12yrs 5.30pm ADULTS 7.30pm
Tuesdays @ Erina: Special Needs @ 3.30pm, 4.15pm & 5.15pm
Wednesdays Saturdays @ Erina: Mini-Kids @ 9.00am (3-5yrs)
Wednesdays DAYTIME Adults: 10.00am
Wednesdays @ Erina: 5-8yrs 4.30pm, 9-12yrs 5.30pm
Wednesdays @ Erina: Teenage Mixed 6.30pm, Teenage Girls Only 7.30pm
Thursdays @ Chittaway: 5-8yrs 4.30pm , 9-12yrs 5.30pm, MUMS 6.30pm
Thursdays @ Erina: ADULTS 7.30pm
Saturdays @ Erina: 6-12yrs 2.00pm, Teenagers and Adults @ 3.00pm

Great weekend at the Sydney international. We had competitors representing from all around the world. Kagatsu had two competitors this weekend Beau Mathews and Cruz Exston. Both boys competing in the under 15s. Cruz in the under 60kgs and Beau in the Under 36kg category. Both boys came up against very strong competition Cruz won 2 from 3 fights coming home with a bronze medal and Beau had two matches that unfortunately didn’t go his way but has made him fired up for the next competition in March. I’m very proud of both boys and grateful to Shane Alvisio for his guidance Porl for coaching the boys to get them ready for the competition and Jamie Exston for organising me and the boys.

Senior Club Grading - 28th December.
Congrats to the Hill Family siblings for sneaking in a significant grading opportunity during the end of year break. Head Club Coach Paul & visiting Club Coach Shane reviewed the knowledge requirements for the following adult gradings.

2hrs of Nage no Kata, Go Kyo (40 throws for Brown belt), plus osae-komi-waza (hold-downs) shime-waza (strangles) and kansetu-waza (arm locks), plus Japanese terminology.

Kian Hill (18yrs) - Graded to senior Brown Belt
Jude Hill (17yrs) - Graded to senior Brown Belt
Tehya Hill (16yrs) - Graded to senior Green Belt

Kian & Jude are now on the final part of their pathway to acquiring their Black Belt. It has been quite a journey for them so far, as they joined the Judo Club at 6yrs of age and trained all the way through. Both boys have gained plenty of knowledge by being Assistant Coaches and teaching our junior classes.

Tehya now has a grade where that makes her eligible to also acquire her CAF accreditation as an Assistant Coach and will start teaching junior classes in 2026. (thankyou)

Congrats to you all for being committed long-term members of our Judo Club. As our Club Coaches always say to all our members, "Not everyone in Judo may win a State or National Title, however with consistency everyone is capable of acquiring their Black Belt"
(so don't give up now!)
