BRONZE FINAL | SAINTS 6.7.43 v MAGPIES 6.3.39 💚🤍🖤

What. A. Game.

The Magpies struck first, but the Saints responded with six unanswered goals, setting the tone for a classic Northern Rivers Cup battle.

🔥 Wilson Carroll-Burgess just 16 years old was electric, bagging 3 goals and setting up two more, forcing Byron to throw their hardest taggers at him in the second half.

Some tough calls swung momentum Byron’s way, but the Saints dug deep, rallying together for one last surge. The backline stood rock-solid, and Big Benny Messemaker worked tirelessly in the ruck to keep us in control every bounce.

As the siren sounded, it was Lennox by 4 points — heart, grit, and pure Saints spirit. 💪

And yes, BJ’s attempted speccy had the crowd roaring… even if he didn’t quite stick the landing.

Special mention to the Wells father-son combo again, with Nick showing Dad how it’s done by slotting a major in a moment for the history books.

From having no facilities, no goal kicking practice, training on the beach and under headlights to a bronze medal finish, what a first season for the Saints.

💚🤍🖤 FINALS DAY – LET’S GO SAINTS! 💚🤍🖤

Tomorrow marks a huge moment for our club as we run out for our very last game of our inaugural season. The Saints finished 3rd in the minor premiership and now the Lennox Saints take on the Byron Magpies 🖤🤍 in the fight for bronze and bragging rights in the Northern Rivers Cup AFL finals.

What started as a simple idea at the beginning of the year has grown into something so much bigger – a chance to play footy, a community, and a team that has shown true grit every single week. From our very first bounce to today, the Saints have proven that footy in Lennox is well and truly alive.

Saints Finish Inaugural Season with Gritty Win Over Demons

🏉 The Lennox Head Saints capped off their maiden home-and-away season with a hard-fought 16-point victory over the Nimbin Demons in heavy conditions at Stan Thompson Oval, Brunswick Heads, on Saturday.

Final score: Lennox Saints 😇 5.11.41 def Nimbin Demons 😈 3.7.25.

Nimbin, re-entering the Northern Rivers competition this year, came to the contest with determination, their side bolstered by reinforcements from other clubs 👏. It was a heartening sign for regional AFL — proof of the camaraderie between clubs and the growth of the game in the area 😈 ❤️💙.

The Saints, fighting to cement third place on the ladder, were made to earn every possession. The match was a slog in the wet 🌧️, but Lennox’s relentless pressure told in the end, grinding out a victory that will see them take a bye next week before contesting for bronze 🥉 (pending Round 5 results 😬) on grand final day at Oaks Oval, Lismore, on August 23 🏟️.

💚🤍🖤 The day was made extra special by the inclusion of local father-and-son duo Andrew and Nick Wells 👨‍👦. Nick slotted a classy goal, while Andrew provided crucial assists and was unlucky not to have one himself after what many in the crowd believed was a mark inside the goal square 🚫 (3rd umpire reviewing 🔍).

⚡Debutant Campbell Oldham also impressed, his pace and clean skills adding an extra spark to the Saints’ young brigade.

☀️ Hang Easy – Well Fought: Captain Zac Bowles – midfield generalship and pure leadership. 🧠

🍹Jekyll & Hyde – Best Moment: a Father & Son Andrew & Nick Wells ran out together for first and most likely only time, a proud day for the Wells family and the club, a truely special moment for any footballing family. ❤️

🧁 Seagrass – Coaches Award: Connor Hirst – tireless work rate and creativity with the ball, doesn't mind a run either. 🏃‍♂️
