Can Assist Cup – Thank You ❤️

We just want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in the Can Assist Cup.

Firstly, thank you to the Merungle Hill Mud Crabs for an unreal game of rugby. You blokes were better on the night and deserved the win, coming away with a 39–27 result. Tough, honest footy played the right way 🤝

A huge thank you to the Leeton Phantoms Rugby Union Club for putting on the canteen and for the incredibly generous donation made to Can Assist — your support behind the scenes doesn’t go unnoticed.

Thanks to referee Tim for a fairly reffed game, letting both sides play and keeping things flowing.

To our supporters, the Mud Crabs supporters, and all the locals who came down — thank you. You absolutely made the night what it was. The atmosphere, the support, and the community feel were something special.

A massive thank you to Jean and Sue from Can Assist for taking care of the gate takings and for being an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the night.

And lastly, a huge congratulations and thank you to Callum Dunn from the Mud Crabs. Without Callum, none of this would have ever come about — this night is a credit to you.

Rugby done right, for a cause that really matters ❤️🏉

FINAL TEAM LIST – MUD CRABS ON NOTICE 🦀

There’s been some late changes, but unlike the Mud Crabs, we’re not falling apart under pressure.

Unfortunately, Jaden Raats is sidelined with concussion and Dylan Browne is out sick — which is still tougher than anything the Mud Crabs will throw at us.

Now for the good news…
Caydan Hillier has completed a miracle comeback from a calf injury. Doctors said no. Physios said no. Caydan said “I’m not missing a chance to fold some Mud Crabs” — and here we are.

We’ve also added Sam Filipo (Centre) — silky hands, sharp feet, and very likely to have Mud Crabs grabbing at air all night.
And Kian Henman (Flanker) joins the pack, bringing an engine the Mud Crabs will be begging to borrow by halftime.

And make no mistake — the Warriors boys are KEEN.
Training’s been sharp, chats have been loud, and there’s a group of blokes itching to rip in and make a statement. The lads are hungry, switched on, and counting down the minutes to kickoff.

Final list locked 🔒
Mud Crabs… bring the claws, bring the sideways runs, bring the excuses — we’ll bring the footy.

See you at kickoff 🦀➡️🍽️⚔️

💚Can Assist Cup💛

💥 Bench Impact Squad – MIA Warriors

16. Wah Paw – Flanker / Scrumhalf
Utility menace. Wah Paw brings chaos — sharp around the ruck, relentless in defence, and always sniffing around tired forwards. Whether he’s jumping into the back row or speeding things up at 9, he’s the kind of bloke Mud Crabs hate seeing jog on.

17. Michael “Macca” McPhee – Flyhalf / Wing
Versatility with venom. Macca can steer the ship or burn you out wide, depending on what’s needed. Fresh legs, smart footy brain, and a boot that keeps defenders honest. Mud Crabs thinking the edges are safe late? Think again.

18. Benji Roden – Flanker / Inside Centre
All heart, no reverse gear. Benji brings instant intensity — hard tackles, aggressive carries, and zero regard for his own well-being. Built like a back, plays like a forward, and absolutely loves hitting tired bodies in the middle.

19. Dylan Browne – Number 8 / Prop
Impact in human form. Dylan adds size, strength, and go-forward when the game starts getting loose. Whether it’s shoring up the scrum or charging off the back, he’s here to make sure the Warriors finish stronger than they started.

As a unit
This bench isn’t about survival — it’s about escalation:
• Tempo up
• Contact harder
• Pressure turned to points

While the Mud Crabs are emptying the tank, the Warriors are unloading fresh legs with bad intentions.

Four blokes. One message:
The game isn’t over — it’s just getting worse.

💚Can Assist Cup💛

⚡️ The Back Three – MIA Warriors

11. Left Wing – Tom Collins-McAlister
Pure pace with a nose for space. Tom lives for broken play — give him half a chance and he’s gone. Strong under the high ball, lethal on kick returns, and more than happy to finish off the hard work done inside him. Mud Crabs right edge better keep their spacing tight… or they’ll be waving as he disappears down the sideline.

14. Right Wing – Joseph Tolhurst
Speed merchant with footy IQ to match. Joseph knows when to hug the paint and when to come looking for work, popping up where defenders least expect him. One missed tackle, one bad read — that’s six points. Mud Crabs winger blink once and it’s already on the highlights.

15. Fullback – Tom Dowse
The general at the back. Calm, composed, and deadly on the counter. Tom cleans up everything, talks nonstop, and turns loose kicks into instant pressure. If the Mud Crabs kick long, he’ll punish them. Kick short, same result. Kick poorly? Even worse.

As a unit
This back three is built for punishment:
• Rock-solid under the high ball
• Dangerous on kick return
• Clinical when space opens up

While the Mud Crabs are kicking for territory and hoping for the best, these three are turning scraps into metres and metres into points.

Attack wide at your own risk.
The Warriors backfield is open for business — and it’s cash only.

💚Can Assist Cup💛

💣 The Centres – MIA Warriors

12. Inside Centre – Jesse Watson
The line-bender. Jesse runs straight, hard and with bad intentions — dragging defenders into collisions they didn’t sign up for. Strong over the ball, clean in contact, and always straightening the attack to put the Mud Crabs on the back foot. If their 10 is brave, he’ll test that early.

13. Outside Centre – James Tafiti
A wrecking ball disguised as a back. Built like a forward, moves like he shouldn’t, and absolutely loves a one-on-one. James doesn’t look for space — he creates it by running through people. Mud Crabs edge defence better bring help… and even then, good luck.

As a pairing
This midfield combo is pure pressure:
• Gain line domination
• Brutal defence in the middle
• Front-foot ball for days

Mud Crabs centres will be making a lot of “jam or slide?” decisions — and getting both of them wrong. By the second half, that channel’s going to look very lonely.

If the halves pull the strings, these two do the damage

💚Can Assist Cup💛

🧠 The Halves – MIA Warriors

9. Scrum Half – Shanon Bradbrook
The metronome. Shanon controls the pace like a DJ with a vendetta — quick ball when the Warriors are rolling, slow poison when the Mud Crabs are on the back foot. Sniping around the ruck, chirping nonstop, and making sure their forwards never get a clean breather. If the Mud Crabs think the ball’s slow… it’s already gone.

10. Fly Half – Caydan Hillier
Cool head, sharp boot, ruthless decision-maker. Caydan runs the show with calm authority — putting forwards into holes, backs into space, and opposition wingers into panic. Missed tackles get punished, lazy defenders get turned inside out, and if the Mud Crabs don’t respect his kicking game? They’ll be turning around a lot.

As a pairing
This 9–10 combo is built to dissect:
• Fast, clean service
• Smart game management
• Constant pressure on tired legs

While the Mud Crabs are still arguing about defensive reads, Bradbrook and Hillier are already two phases ahead. Tempo up, pressure on, scoreboard ticking.

When the halves are humming, everything else follows.
Mud Crabs — hope you like chasing shadows

💚Can Assist Cup💛

🐺 The Back Row – MIA Warriors

6. Blindside Flanker – Riley Legge
Riley owns the short side like it’s private property. Loves the ugly stuff — big tackles, messy rucks, and shutting down anything that looks like momentum. Mud Crabs trying to play tight? They’ll be playing horizontal by the end of the first quarter.

7. Openside Flanker – Jaden Raats (The South African Machine 🇿🇦)
Straight out of the breakdown academy. Jaden doesn’t knock on doors — he steals your ball and walks off with it. Turnovers, jackals, and constant pressure until the Mud Crabs forget what phase they’re on. Expect plenty of appeals to the ref and very little sympathy.

8. Number Eight – Paddy Madden
Off the back like a freight train with footy IQ. Paddy controls the base, punches holes, and links play while Mud Crabs forwards are still catching their breath. If there’s a weak shoulder or lazy defender, he’s finding it — repeatedly.

As a unit
This back row is built to ruin game plans:
• Breakdown domination
• Gain line destruction
• Relentless pressure

Mud Crabs will be second to the ruck, late to the tackle, and asking each other whose man that was. By the second half, they won’t be worrying about running lines — they’ll be worrying about survival.

Back row business, Warriors style.
Mud Crabs… bring a shell, you’re gonna need it.
