End Of Season Wrap – Juniors Edition
It was another fantastic season of growth for the Lawrence juniors, fielding four junior sides across the age divisions. A truly phenomenal effort that rewarded the hard work put in by so many behind the scenes to make it happen and continue growing the game.
Let look at how each side season fared.
Under 10s.
Coach: Aj Tory
Team: Elijah Whittnall, Milla Tory, River Thorpy, Levi Taylor, Jace Panzram, Leon Bennett, Tomas Morris, Millie Hope-Roberts
The youngest of our teams, the under 10s plugged away under the guidance of Lawrence legend Aj Tory this season. The side saw many first time players which was amazing to see. The side itself performed admirably all season and while the u10s games are more about development that results, it was great to see the side come out on top a few times during the season. We can’t wait to see everyone back next season, as a few players will graduate up to the u12s and a few will stay in the 10s and help any new recruits find their feet and love for the game of cricket.
Under 12s
Coach: Doug Harris & Simon Fenn
Team: Flynn Tory, Sandy Fenn, Hugo Fenn, Oscar Harris, Lachlan Ensbey, Luca Terranova, Corey Rae, Henry, Matt Boyd, Ethan Moloney, Lewis Macklin, Andy Hope-Roberts.
This Under 12s side really was a bit of a rag-tag bunch when it came to cricket. The enthusiasm was there from day one, but they were still very green in terms of skills. We had kids from five or six different schools, different ages, different experience levels, all thrown together. Trying to fit 12 players into a 9-a-side format, it felt early on like it might be a long, tough season.
But this group had other ideas. Week after week, they surprised us. Win, lose or draw, the camaraderie between these boys was second to none. They brought energy every time they took the field, constant chatter, encouragement, and pure joy. The way they celebrated a wicket or a great piece of play, you’d think they’d just won a grand final. What stood out most was how they celebrated each other’s success like it was their own, it was genuinely great to watch.
And it wasn’t just about the vibes, they backed it up on the field. This team worked their way all the way through to the semi-finals, falling just short of a grand final appearance, which was a fantastic achievement considering where they started.
Then there was the cricket itself. The improvement across the season was massive. Their batting, bowling, fielding, and running between the wickets all came on in leaps and bounds… to the point where they were almost unrecognisable from the start of the season to the end. Through it all, they never lost that enjoyment or connection with each other.

Under 14s
Coach: Ben Shaw & Tim Tilse
Team: Hamzah Alam, Henri Green, Jamieson Allen, Isaac Bulmer, Jed Chevalley, Maximus Coorey, Carson Gallagher, Tomas Green, Jacob Ensbey, Harry Shaw, Harry Tilse.
Going into the season Lawrence recruited hard for the u14s but fell a couple players short, so were joined up with Coutts to make up the last couple of spots on the roster. While the team took some time to put together, it took no time at all for them to gel. From the first ball to the last ball of the season, this side was a dominant force! With 1st Grade skipped Shaw at the helm the boys went through the entire season undefeated, which is a phenomenal effort. The u14s had a very strong side, but the coaches found a way to ensure that everyone has a chance to shine throughout the year, which only bodes well for improvement and enjoyment for everyone.
Comee grand final day the side showed just why they were deserved winner, by producing a dominant display after posting 6-228, they dismissed the opposition for just 89 to claim the Title!
While those couple fo players are likely to return to their parent clubs, the boys all had a wonderful season, and I know are all itchng to get back together for another season in the red and black fo Lawrence.

Batting Average: Harry Shaw (325)

Under 17s

This was Lawrence Cricket Club Under 17s first foray into the Under 17s competition, and they certainly made a splash. While short on numbers at times, they regularly called on several players to compete above their age division to ensure they could field a side each week.
Coached by 1st grade stalwart Nathan Ensbey, the team played with a competitive edge all season and managed to back it up on the field, progressing through the year undefeated. The side is viewed as an important breeding ground and genuine pathway for juniors making their way into senior cricket, and the experiences and game situations they encountered this season will only benefit their continued growth and development.
They entered the Grand Final as deserved favourites and, after a hard-fought first day in trying conditions, the match was locked in a finely balanced contest. Unfortunately, before play on the second day could resume, the heavens opened and the game was abandoned.
That is where the reward for such a successful season came to the fore. By virtue of their outstanding undefeated campaign, Lawrence Cricket Club Under 17s were rightfully crowned premiers, capping off what was a wonderfully successful season.
