🎣 September weigh-in results 🎣

Despite some pretty ordinary weather over the Father’s Day weekend, we had a great turnout and plenty of quality fish caught.

With the Victorian trout season opening on Saturday, there were trout caught from Eucumbene, Dartmouth and the Victorian rivers. Seb took out Best Trout as well as Best Trout Bag for the weekend.

Jamie and Jake decided to brave the weather at Blowering – spending half of Saturday holding the gazebo down and the other half winding in fish! Their efforts paid off with 7 Murray cod, including 4 over the magic metre mark and the biggest stretching the tape to 104cm. Cracking effort in some rough conditions!

We also had the first draw of our new Members’ Jackpot.

Bruce Kroutz was the lucky name pulled out of the hat… but unfortunately Bruce wasn’t there to claim the $50!

That means the jackpot rolls over to $100 at our next weigh-in!

Thanks to everyone who came down for a catch-up. Great to see such a good crowd despite the weather.

🎣 OPEN COMP + TROUT OPENING THIS WEEKEND!

Trout season kicks off at midnight Friday and our Open Comp is on all weekend!

There’s a bit of rain is forecast Saturday, but hopefully there are a few crackers getting around like Jude’s beauty from last opening!

With Father’s Day on Sunday, grab Dad or the kids, get out for a fish and make sure you’re at the weigh-in at 4pm on Sunday for your chance to take home the $50!

💰 NEW – MEMBERS’ JACKPOT!

As part of our push to boost numbers at our monthly weigh-ins and club events, we’re introducing a new Members’ Jackpot!

Here’s how it works:

At each monthly weigh-in, one name will be drawn at random from our membership register.

If your name is drawn and you’re at the weigh-in – you win the jackpot!

The jackpot starts at $50. If the member drawn isn’t there, it jackpots by another $50 for the following month.

It’ll keep growing each month until someone takes it home.

If it hasn’t gone off by our Christmas Party, it WILL be won – we’ll keep drawing names until we find someone who is there to claim it.

You don’t have to fish the competition to be eligible. You just need to turn up!

It’s a simple way to reward our members for getting involved, while hopefully getting a few more faces down to our weigh-ins for a feed, a drink and a catch-up.

Lavington Anglers Club AGM – This Saturday!

Our Annual General Meeting is on this Saturday at 1:00pm at the Lavington Anglers Club clubhouse on Webb St.

Whether you’ve been a member for years or you’ve only recently joined, we’d love to see you there. It’s your chance to have a say on the future of the club, hear what’s been happening, and help shape what’s ahead.

We’ll have some finger food provided, so just BYO drinks and come along for a relaxed afternoon with fellow members.

Jude put in an enormous effort over the Dartmouth Cup weekend, covering plenty of kilometres on foot and spending long hours on the water alongside his dad.

The hard work paid off with some outstanding results, including a cracking brown trout weighing 1.365kg and a bag of 6 fish for 4.85kg. Along the way he also landed a couple of beautiful rainbow trout.

His consistency and determination throughout the weekend earned him the title of 2026 Dartmouth Cup Junior Champion Angler!

A fantastic achievement and a well-deserved reward for all the effort he put in. Well done, Jude! 🎣🏆

HOW BIG?

A few of the boys came across these spawners doing their thing in a shallow weedbed and watched them for almost half an hour before letting them be.

There was up to half a dozen smaller fish with these 2 bigger ones and they were in the same spot doing the same thing the next day.

Dartmouth Cup Results 🏆

The Lavington Anglers Club had 17 members make the trip and stay at the Mitta cabin for this year’s Dartmouth Cup. With fantastic weather, good fishing and an even better group of people, it was another memorable weekend on the water.

The biggest highlight was bringing home the Team Event for the third consecutive year. Our best 10 fish weighed a combined 12.335kg, making it our best team score yet and earning $1,000 for the club.

We also had some great individual results:

• Frank took out Biggest Brown Trout on Day 1 with a superb 1.64kg brown trout.
• Jude was crowned Junior Champion Angler with 6 fish for a total weight of 4.85kg.

To cap off the weekend, Josh managed to jag second prize in the random cash draw and took home a handy $2,000.

A huge thank you to the organisers, volunteers and everyone who attended. These events are about much more than the fishing, and it’s always great to see our members enjoying time together and representing the club so well.

Three team titles in a row!

🔥 LAVINGTON ANGLERS CLUB WINTER RAFFLE 🔥

Our annual winter raffle is now underway, with funds going towards much needed upgrades at the Mitta Cabin.

Planned works include:
• New roof
• Rebuilding the verandah
• Electrical upgrades

There are some cracking prizes up for grabs:

🥇 1st Prize – Heaped trailer load of split red gum, delivered locally
🥈 2nd Prize – $200 Fuel Voucher
🥉 3rd Prize – $100 BCF Voucher

🎟 Tickets are only $2 each and available online via Messenger or from club members.
