BOWLS TASMANIA LIFE MEMBERSHIP - MARK STROCHNETTER
Today, we proudly celebrate one of the great contributors and competitors in Tasmanian bowls history, with Bowls Tasmania awarding Life Membership to Mark Strochnetter (pictured with Bowls Tasmania President Lynne McDougall) following the 2025/26 Bowls Tasmania AGM.
Known to many as โStalโ or โStallionโ, Mark has been a defining figure in Tasmanian bowls for almost three decades. Since making his Tasmanian debut in 1998, he has represented our state with distinction, passion, and consistency, recently becoming the most capped Tasmanian representative player in history, currently sitting at 349 Representative Games.
Markโs achievements speak for themselves, Australian representative honours, national titles, Tasmanian championships, countless pennants, and an enduring presence at the highest level of the sport. But beyond the accolades, it is his contribution to the culture and growth of bowls in Tasmania that makes this recognition so deserving.
Markโs career achievements are remarkable, including:
๐ Australian Representative (2003)
๐ Australian Super Singles Champion (2002)
๐ Australian Open Pairs Champion (2006)
๐ Tasmanian Open Singles Champion (2006 & 2009)
๐ Tasmanian Bowler of the Year (2007 & 2009)
๐ Multiple State and Northern titles across singles, pairs, triples and fours
๐ 349 appearances representing Tasmania
๐ Premiership success across Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales
From mentoring teammates, coaching emerging talent, serving on the BTAS Board, leading the inaugural Tasmania Tridents BPL team as coach, and representing Longford Bowls & Community Club with pride, Mark has continually given back to the sport that has shaped so much of his life.
Life Membership is awarded only in exceptional circumstances to those whose service and contribution leave a lasting impact on bowls in Tasmania. Mark Strochnetter is unquestionably one of those people.
Congratulations Mark, and thank you for everything you have given to our sport.
