TIBC2025 WRAP-UP
Overview
TIBC2025, held at Trevallyn Bowls Club, has surpassed all our previous events in both size and success. We are absolutely thrilled with how this year’s tournament unfolded and the milestones we’ve achieved.

The Purpose of TIBC
The Tasmanian International Bowls Classic (TIBC) is more than just a sporting event. Our aims this year included:
• Giving Tasmanian bowlers the chance to compete against some of the world’s best players.
• Raising funds for our chosen charity, Love Your Sister. This year, we collected a total of $1,375, which was generously rounded up to $2,000 by a supporter.
• Generating revenue for the host club, Trevallyn Bowls Club, and recognising the hard work of volunteers with tangible financial rewards.
• Supporting other local clubs, including Kings Meadows Bowls Club, Longford Bowls Club, Kingborough Bowls Club, and Burnie Bowls Club, through additional revenue opportunities.
• Introducing the sport of bowls to people who may not have played before.
• Providing spectators the unique experience of watching top-tier players in action and meeting the stars of the game.
• Ensuring that every aspect of the event remains affordable for all involved.

2025 Achievements
We are proud to say that we accomplished all of these goals and more in 2025. Notably, every one of the 14 rounds was live streamed, allowing a global audience to tune in. Our social media presence grew dramatically, with page views and reach increasing by 700% to a total audience of 330,000. Viewers joined us from across the globe, including the UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Canada, Ireland, and the USA.

Acknowledgements
This world-class event would not have been possible without the dedication of so many people. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved: the organising committee, markers, volunteers, spectators, kitchen helpers, bar staff, greenkeeper, players, and sponsors. Your collective effort made the event a standout success, with the next tournament already scheduled for 2–5 October next year.

Special Thanks
A special mention goes to the TIBC Organising Committee—David Genford, Scott Summers, Will Springer, Cameron Windram, Dylan Fisher, and Chloe Flanagan—for their tireless work. Their passion for the game and commitment to the event are deeply appreciated.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year on October 2 to 4, 2026!

DYLAN FISHER CROWNED KING OF TREVALLYN IN MASTERFUL GRAND FINAL DISPLAY
In a performance that will be spoken about for years to come, Dylan Fisher has been crowned the 2025 Tasmanian International Bowls Classic champion, delivering a display of near-flawless drawing to claim a resounding 18-2 victory over Michael Sims.

From the first bowl to the last, the final was a masterclass from the newly-appointed Trevallyn Bowls Club coach. Fisher was simply unstoppable, building an astonishing 16-1 lead after nine ends in a devastating exhibition of precision. Every draw seemed to find its target, every weight was perfect, leaving his opponent with no room to breathe and few opportunities to counter.

For Michael Sims, a member who began his bowling journey on these very greens, the final was a story of immense frustration. After a brilliant tournament that saw him defeat giants like Jack McShane in a semi-final thriller, his game deserted him on the biggest stage. His solitary point in the early ends was met with a raised arm, less a celebration and more an acknowledgment of a battle slipping away against an opponent in irresistible form.

The 18-2 scoreline, sealed with one final shot from Fisher, marks one of the most dominant victories in the tournament's history. It is a victory rich with narrative: the new club coach, Dylan Fisher, etching his name onto the honour board and claiming the Mad Dog White Jacket, while the local favourite, Michael Sims, was left to reflect on what might have been after a otherwise stellar campaign.

Tonight, the Trevallyn Bowls Club celebrates a new champion, a new coach, and a tournament that delivered unforgettable drama from the first Calcutta bid to the final, decisive bowl.

ULVERSTONE DERBY SET FOR GRAND FINAL AFTER SEMI-FINAL THRILLERS
The stage for the 2025 Tasmanian International Bowls Classic Grand Final is set, and it promises a storybook ending. In two gripping semi-finals, two new clubmates from Ulverstone booked their place in the title decider, setting up a final that will have the entire North-West coast buzzing.

Fisher's Masterclass Seals First Final Berth

In the first semi-final, Dylan Fisher put on a commanding display to defeat a gallant Trace Stewart 14-6. The match turned on a moment of cruel fortune for Stewart on the second end, where he inadvertently dragged the jack to Fisher's bowls despite holding shot. From there, Fisher was in relentless form, winning nine of the thirteen ends played to secure a victory that never looked in doubt. The win is a dream start for the Ulverstone Bowls Club, with Fisher having recently relocated to Tasmania and set to wear their colours this season.

Sims Steals Victory with Last-Bowl Drama

The second semi-final was an absolute thriller, with Michael Sims clinching a heart-stopping 11-9 victory over Jack McShane with the very last bowl of the match. In a game of shifting momentum, McShane led 5-3 before Sims won four ends in a row to take a commanding 9-5 lead. Showing the heart of a champion, McShane fought back to within a single shot heading into the final end. He then held match shot, only for Sims to produce a moment of magic, expertly pushing his own bowl in to score the two shots needed for victory and send his supporters into raptures.

The Grand Final: A Tale of Two Calcutta Bargains

This sets up a fascinating final, not just for the title, but for the savvy bidders from Friday night's Calcutta auction. The clash is a classic case of marquee investment versus a value buy that has paid off in spades.

Dylan Fisher was purchased for $900. As a highly decorated marquee player, his price reflected his proven quality, and he has delivered on that investment spectacularly.

Michael Sims was a relative steal at $400. For less than half the price of his opponent, his buyers have landed a place in the final, making him one of the shrewdest purchases of the auction.

More Than Just a Jacket

Tonight, one man will not only claim the winner's cheque but will also have the honour of having his name embroidered on the prestigious Mad Dog White Jacket, named in honour of the legendary Bill "Mad Dog" Springer, who has been a vibrant presence at the club all weekend.

The final promises to be an epic contest between two brilliant bowlers at the top of their game. For Dylan Fisher, it’s a chance to cap his move to Tasmania with a major title. For Michael Sims, it’s an opportunity to complete an incredible underdog run. For the Ulverstone Bowls Club, it’s a win-win situation, with their newest star signing guaranteed to face off against one of their established local heroes.

The scene is set for a magnificent conclusion to a fantastic tournament. Don't miss a single bowl

TOP SEED BOWS OUT AS SEMI-FINALS ARE SET AT TASSIE CLASSIC
The quarter-finals of the Tasmanian International Bowls Classic delivered a perfect blend of high-stakes drama and brilliant individual performances, setting up two tantalising semi-final clashes for this afternoon.

McShane's Class Ends Marshall's Dream Run

In a match that pitted the tournament's form player against its local hero, Jack McShane demonstrated his national class with a commanding 14-6 victory over Codi Marshall. McShane found another gear after a tight start, turning a 2-2 tie into a dominant 12-2 lead after eight ends. While Marshall mounted a brave fightback that showcased why he's been the story of the tournament, the deficit proved too great against an opponent of McShane's calibre. The victory confirms McShane's status as a firm title favourite.

Fisher Weathers the Kelly Storm

In a match of dramatic momentum swings, Dylan Fisher emerged victorious over the Irish superstar Gary Kelly, 14-8. Fisher built an early lead, only to see it evaporate when Kelly scored a huge four on the fifth end. Undeterred, Fisher responded immediately with a stunning five of his own on the seventh end. From there, "Snapper" put on a masterclass in consistency, chalking up five singles over the next six ends to build an insurmountable lead and secure his semi-final spot.

Stewart's Stunning Comeback Sinks Pietersen

Trace Stewart has advanced to the final four in a high-scoring thriller, defeating the popular Mathew Pietersen 19-12. Pietersen seemed in control, leading 9-5 after eight ends. However, the match turned decisively when Stewart unleashed a devastating burst, scoring consecutive threes and a two to seize the lead. He never looked back from there, holding his nerve to close out the match in a contest that went the full distance.

Sims' Strong Finish Overcomes McMullen

The first quarter-final of the day saw Michael Sims continue his brilliant late-tournament form, overcoming Robert "Rowdy" McMullen 13-8. In a tight, tactical battle, McMullen held a 6-4 lead after seven ends. The match turned on a crucial three-end stretch where Sims found another gear to take a 9-6 lead, an advantage he would not relinquish, winning with an end to spare.

The Final Four: Semi-Final Matchups

The stage is now set for a blockbuster afternoon of bowls. The semi-final matchups are:

Dylan Fisher vs Trace Stewart: A clash between two bowlers in peak form. Fisher's relentless consistency against Stewart's powerful, game-turning scoring ability.

Jack McShane vs Michael Sims: A battle between two of the tournament's most in-form players. McShane, the national standout, takes on Sims, who has been virtually unstoppable through the finals.

Just two wins separate one of these four elite bowlers from the title. The tension, the skill, and the drama will be at their peak. Don't miss a moment of the action

THE EIGHT IS SET: KNOCKOUT DRAMA AWAITS AFTER FINAL ROUND THRILLER
The final round of sectional play at the Tasmanian International Bowls Classic is complete, and what a rollercoaster it was! After 12 gruelling rounds, the Top 8 has been decided, setting the stage for a spectacular knockout finale this afternoon.

Final Round Drama Secures Final Spots

The tension was palpable as the final ends were played out, with several bowlers fighting for their tournament lives.

In a stunning display of power, Michael Sims sealed his finals berth in the most emphatic way possible, posting a massive 23-1 victory to rocket into fourth place on the ladder. Trace Stewart also delivered under pressure, winning 19-5 to force a tie for fifth place, ultimately securing his spot with a superior shots-up count over Robert McMullen.

The heartbreak of the day belonged to Chris Roach and Amity Bickley, who both suffered narrow losses in their final matches. These results saw them fall just short, finishing 9th and 10th respectively, in a brutal demonstration of how fine the margins are at this level.

The Quarter-Finals: A Clash of Titans

The stage is now set for a phenomenal afternoon of knockout bowls. The quarter-final draw has produced some mouth-watering matchups:

Codi Marshall (1) vs Jack McShane (8): The tournament's most consistent performer against the marquee man who scraped into the eight. Can McShane find his best form to topple the top seed?

Michael Sims (4) vs Robert McMullen (5): A battle of two bowlers in red-hot form. Sims is coming off a monumental final round, while McMullen's consistency has earned him this shot at glory.

Mathew Pietersen (3) vs Trace Stewart (6): The crowd favourite, 'Perm', takes on the resilient Stewart, who fought his way into the finals with a clutch final-round performance.

Dylan Fisher (2) vs Gary Kelly (7): A blockbuster clash between two of the game's biggest names. "Snapper" Fisher has been brilliant all tournament, but you can never count out the Irish superstar, Gary Kelly.

After a long and demanding sectional stage, it all comes down to this. Win, and you're one step closer to the title. Lose, and your tournament is over. The pressure, the skill, and the drama will be on full display at Trevallyn this afternoon. Don't miss a moment.

FINAL ROUND FRENZY: TOP 8 SPOTS UP FOR GRABS IN TREVALLYN THRILLER
The penultimate round of the Tasmanian International Bowls Classic has concluded, setting the stage for a final round of pure, unadulterated drama. With one round remaining, only one bowler is a true lock for the finals, leaving a heart-stopping scramble for the remaining seven quarter-final spots.

The Lone Leader: Marshall Books His Ticket

A massive congratulations to Codi Marshall (1st), who has officially booked his place in this afternoon's quarter-finals. Despite suffering his first loss in a tight 16-8 battle with Kane Walker, his phenomenal tournament has secured the top seed. For everyone else, the maths is nerve-wracking.

The Nervous Wait: Kelly and McShane on Edge

In a blockbuster clash, Gary Kelly (3rd) won the battle of the marquee men against Jack McShane (4th). While this puts them in a strong position, they are not yet safe. They now face an anxious wait, as their fate will be determined by the results around them. A series of wins from the chasing pack could see either of them bumped out of the Top 8.

The Chargers: Seven Bowlers, Four Games, Two Spots

This is where the real excitement lies. The final quarter-final spots will be decided by a group of seven elite bowlers who have one game remaining. Their destiny is in their own hands.

Mathew Pietersen (2nd), Dylan Fisher (5th), and Amity Bickley (6th) are in a strong position, but must still secure a result to be sure.

The most intense pressure, however, falls on Rob McMullen (7th), Chris Roach (9th), Trace Stewart (10th), and Michael Sims (11th). For them, the equation is simple: win their final match, and they will almost certainly leap into the Top 8. Stumble, and their tournament is over.

A Fond Farewell

The final round also brings the curtain down on some magnificent campaigns. Mark Strochnetter provided a moment of pure drama, picking up four shots on the last end to win his match, a fittingly brave finish from the state legend.

The scene is set for a breathtaking conclusion. For most of the top contenders, it’s win or go home. The final round at Trevallyn is about to be a pressure-cooker you won't want to miss

TWO ROUNDS TO GO: TREVALLYN BRAVES FOR ULTIMATE FINALS SCRAMBLE
What a spectacular day of bowls we are witnessing! The tenth round of the Tasmanian International Bowls Classic has concluded, and the race for the finals is even more intense than we thought. With two full rounds remaining—and crucial games in hand for many—the battle for the Top 8 is a wide-open thriller where almost anything can happen.

The Front-Runners Strengthen Their Grip

While no one has officially booked their ticket yet, a few players have put themselves in a commanding position.

Codi Marshall was simply dominant, posting a massive 22-2 win to cement his place at the top of the ladder.

Dylan Fisher fought hard for a 17-7 victory to solidify his spot in second.

Jack McShane showed his champion qualities, trailing 5-8 before winning the last four ends to clinch an 18.5-5.5 win.

These three have one hand on a finals berth, but with two rounds to go, nothing is guaranteed.

The Logjam: A Dozen Bowlers Chasing Five Spots

The real drama is unfolding just below them. While Amity Bickley (4th) and Mathew Pietersen (5th) are in a fantastic position, they cannot afford a slip-up.

Why? Because a host of players with a game in hand are poised to make a dramatic late charge! Tim Douce (10th) and Chris Roach (16th) have two games left to play. This means a player currently outside the eight could rack up over 30 points and completely reshape the leaderboard in the final moments.

Last-End Agony and Ecstasy

The pressure was on full display across the greens. In a heart-stopping match, Tom Hicks and Joey Clarke were tied 12-12 heading into the final end. In a dramatic conclusion, Clarke's drive made contact, only to see the jack ricochet perfectly onto one of Hicks's bowls, handing Hicks a thrilling 19-5 victory.

It All Comes Down to This

The next two rounds will be pure, unadulterated drama. For the players at the top, it's about holding their nerve. For the chasing pack with a game in hand, it's a golden opportunity. For everyone else, it's a final, desperate push for glory.

Every single end across the next two rounds will be critical. The atmosphere at Trevallyn is electric, and we are in for an unforgettable finish to sectional play. Stay tuned
