AVALON, KNOCKING ON THE DOOR.
The JSR Team faced a challenging night at Avalon that ultimately showed promising speed despite the results not reflecting it.
Rolling out early as the first group on track in Heat 1, the team didn’t get a true read on track conditions, leaving the car far too loose. Heat 2 followed a similar pattern, compounded by a couple of driver errors while still searching for the right balance.
With a number of competitors failing to finish their heats, Smith lined up 7th in the B Main. From there, Jordy showed significant improvement, laying down some of his strongest laps to date in the Sprintcar and running competitively with the front of the field on a very demanding track.
A restart confusion during the race saw Smith sent to the rear of the field in a situation that was ultimately out of his control. With the race then declared shortly after, it was a frustrating end to what was shaping as a transfer-worthy drive into the A Main.
Despite the setback, the night delivered a clear takeaway, when the car is in the window and Jordy commits, the pace is there to run with the front runners. The team proved they have the speed, now the focus shifts to executing consistently and stringing together strong, consecutive laps.
Jordy will take the positives and momentum into next weekend at Redline Raceway in Ballarat, determined to turn speed into results.
