The Comeback
Almost six weeks ago, my life — and my body — changed pretty dramatically.
What started with surgery turned into complications and a much longer recovery than ever expected. I’ve spent weeks being unable to move the way I normally would, unable to train and unable to do so many of the things that usually make me feel strong, capable and, quite honestly, like myself.
And the reality is… I’ve lost strength. My fitness has taken a hit. I’m still battling awful fatigue, too. So this isn’t a post saying “I’m back and ready to go!” Far from it.
This is me saying that, almost six weeks on, I want to start (and medically allowed) purposefully moving again — carefully, slowly and within what my body can actually manage with a touch of gentle challenge.
In many ways, I’m starting from what a lot of people would call Day 1.
And you know what? That’s okay.
Right now, the focus isn’t on how much I used to lift, how fit I was, or what I could do before the surgeries. It’s about rebuilding. Rebuilding strength. Rebuilding muscle. Rebuilding capacity. And gradually getting back to moving in ways that make me feel good.
There’s going to be a lot of patience involved. Some days will be better than others. I’ll need to listen to the fatigue, respect the limitations I still have, and resist the temptation to do too much simply because I want to.
This isn’t about proving I can push through. It’s about giving my body the opportunity to rebuild.
And I’m not exactly starting from scratch.
I’m re-starting with experience.
I know how to train. I know how to move. I know what my body is capable of. I just need to meet it where it is now and slowly work from there.
So, Day 1 it is. ❤️🔥
And if you’re reading this and it feels like it’s your Day 1 too — whether that’s because of injury, illness, life, a setback, or simply because you’ve lost your way — I hear you. I feel you. You are not alone.
Start where you are. Rebuild from there.
We’ve got this. ❤️🔥
Not going backwards.
Not starting over.
Rebuilding 💪
