🏀 INTRODUCING OUR 2026–27 CYCLONES COACHING TEAM 🌀

With our fourth and final Cyclones trial happening this Sunday, we’re excited to introduce the coaches who will lead and support our squads throughout the 2026–27 season!

Our coaching team includes a fantastic mix of experienced returning coaches, new coaches and mentee coaches who will be supported through our growing coach-development program.

We’re also pleased to offer additional support for our athletes through:

🧡 Shooting coaching
💙 Fitness and agility coaching
🧡 Nutrition and fuel support
💙 Mental skills coaching

We’re equally committed to developing our coaches, with mentoring, shared resources and opportunities to learn from one another throughout the season.

A massive thank you to everyone who has stepped forward to coach, mentor and support our athletes. Coaching requires an enormous commitment and we’re grateful to have such a strong group of people investing their time, knowledge and energy into our young athletes.

🏀 SENIORS – THE 2026/27 SEASON IS ALMOST HERE! 🏀

Round 1 is going to look a little different this year, with the season kicking off across THREE huge nights – Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 & Friday 25 September! 🔥

📅 Fixtures are now LIVE on PlayHQ!

Before you hit the court, there’s one very important job to do…

👉 YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO THE SEASON BEFORE YOU PLAY.

Please contact your club directly for your registration link and get registered as early as possible. Registering early helps your club allocate you to the correct team and ensures you appear on the electronic scoresheet ready for Round 1.

⚠️ Unregistered players cannot take the court. Teams that play an unregistered player will have premiership points deducted, so please don’t leave it until game day!

Round 2 for seniors will resume as usual on Thursday 15 October & Friday 16 October.

Our littlest hoopsters are back! 💙

We’re getting ready to open registrations for our Aussie Hoops program for 4–7 year olds! 👧🧒🏀

Over 8 fun-filled weeks in Term 4, our Aussie Hoops program introduces kids to the basics of basketball through drills, skills and plenty of FUN!

And the best part? Parents get involved too! 🙌
Parents will join their little hoopsters on court, helping them learn, move, shoot, dribble and most importantly — HAVE FUN! 💙

✨ REGISTRATIONS OPEN 9AM NEXT MONDAY 14 SEPTEMBER! ✨

Keep your eyes peeled 👀 — we’ll post a separate registration post right here on our page just before 9am, with the link you’ll need to register.

🚨 ATTENTION CYCLONES TRIAL ATHLETES – TRIAL 3 UPDATE 🚨

Apologies for the delay, but we’ve just received confirmation that we are able to keep courts alongside the North West Cup this weekend! 🙌🏀

This means we’re excited to confirm that Cyclones Trial 3 WILL GO AHEAD! 🎉

We do, however, need to move courts and have made some minor changes to the Trial 3 schedule to work around the North West Cup games and the courts available to us.

📢 PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE CHANGES TO THE TRIAL 3 SCHEDULE AND COURT LOCATIONS.

Please double-check your age group, date, time and court before arriving.

We apologise for the late update and appreciate your patience while we worked through the court availability. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at Trial 3! 💙🏀

What a Weekend! 🏀🔥

What a whirlwind of a weekend in Karratha! It all kicked off with our very own U18 Cyclones players getting a taste of a Wildcats-run training session at the Coach the Coach Clinic.

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout of our Cyclones coaches, who took away plenty of valuable tips and ideas to bring back to our local basketball community. The session wrapped up with a great Q&A, giving coaches the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the Wildcats assistant coaching team.

What a fantastic way to kick off the excitement ahead of the Wildcats’ inaugural game in the Pilbara! 🏀

A huge thank you to the Wildcats for sharing your knowledge and experience with our coaches and athletes. What an opportunity for our local community 🙌

🏀 HELP US KEEP OUR JUNIORS PROTECTED! 🏀

Karratha Basketball Association is looking for a sponsor or sponsors to support our Junior Mouthguard Subsidy Program! 🦷🏀

We purchase Elastoplast mouthguards and make them available to our junior members for approximately half of the cost price - helping make player safety more affordable for every family in our basketball community.

We’re looking for a minimum $500 sponsorship to help cover the difference and allow us to continue offering this subsidy to our junior members.

Karratha Basketball Association is opening a WAITLIST for players who missed club grading or haven’t been able to secure a team for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

If a spot becomes available in a team that is suitable for your age and playing level, a club will contact you directly.

EDIT - we are still chasing one coordinator for each of our Wednesday sessions (2022 born kids and 2020/2021 born kids) and one more for our Saturday session (2019/2020 born kids).

Programs like this do not happen without the help of our community!

🏀Aussie Hoops is back in Term 4! 🏀

We’re excited to see our youngest ballers back on court in term 4 — learning skills, having fun, and building a love for the game!

To make the program run smoothly, we’re on the lookout for a couple of reliable coordinators for each age group (2 x Wed, 1 x Sat).

This person will:
✅ Be there EVERY week
✅ Help with set-up and pack-away
✅ Keep the program flowing by making sure stations change on time
✅ Receive a spot for your child in the program and have access to reduced fee costs

If you’re organised, love basketball, and enjoy working with kids, we’d love your help! Everything else will be provided.
