At Rising Sun Martial Arts, our Muay Thai program focuses on:

Zen Do Kai Karate is a practical, well-rounded martial art that builds confidence, discipline, and real-world capability from a traditional lense.

At Rising Sun Martial Arts, our Zen Do Kai program focuses on:

Last night, Coach Dave was running our Krav Maga students through multiple attacker fundamentals — focusing on awareness, movement, positioning, and decision-making under pressure.

The focus was on clear priorities, smart movement, and creating opportunities to escape when situations get chaotic.

If you’re not interested in competitions, belts, or flashy techniques — and instead want real-world self-defence, situational awareness, and confidence in everyday life, our Krav Maga program was built with you in mind.

Krav Maga focuses on:
• Practical self-defence for real situations

🥋 Sparring Seminar Recap – 1/10/2025 🥋

Last week’s Sparring Seminar was all about more than just techniques — it was about mindset, control, and finding flow under pressure.

We explored how fear, ego, and avoidance can shape the way we move, react, and make decisions in a fight. The goal? Learning to manage those emotions through emotional regulation — staying calm, aware, and adaptable no matter the situation.

From there, we dove into tactics: being methodical and tactical, using defence to create attack, changing levels, and finding opportunities to attack while defending. Students also drilled fakes, feints, and the importance of staying playful, keeping the mind open and creative rather than tense and reactive.

Ultimately, sparring isn’t just about reacting — it’s about learning to respond.

Great work to everyone who attended and brought their focus, humility, and curiosity to the mats. Each of you took a step forward in understanding not just sparring, but yourselves as martial artists.

Over the weekend, Rising Sun Martial Arts had the privilege of attending the GSCC Business Marquee Awards, where we were honoured to be nominated as a finalist for the Lifestyle Award.

While we didn’t take home the win this year, simply being named a finalist is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the community we’ve built together. Coming up short this time only gives us a new height to scale for next year!

A huge congratulations to our fellow finalist Evie King Fitness and to the well-deserved winner, Western Spirit Football Club. 🎉

We’re grateful for the recognition and for the continued support of our RSMA family. Here’s to growth, resilience, and aiming even higher in the year to come!

This past weekend was a huge one for our RSMA family.

On Saturday, we held our gradings for Kids Karate, Zen Do Kai, and Muay Thai. The energy in the dojo was incredible as students stepped up to show the skills they’ve been working so hard on.

Then on Sunday, our BJJ team took to the mats in competition. The effort, resilience, and sportsmanship on display were outstanding — and we’re proud to say our team came away with podium finishes!

From gradings to competitions, this weekend was a reminder of what martial arts is all about: hard work, growth, and supporting each other every step of the way. 💪
