PRESENTATION NIGHT

Last Friday we held our senior Presentation Night at the newly opened Crowne Plaza Hotel in Geelong.

It was a fantastic event and we'd like to thank the venue for their amazing hospitality.

We were able to get together as a club to celebrate our 2025/26 award winners, along with our B2 premiership side. Special mention to Lockie Platt who once again took our our A grade player of the year award (Alan Peel Medal). Lockie has now won 4 Alan Peel medals and the last three in a row. Also, shout out to Rhys Brown who won his first B grade player of the year award.

We would also like to mention the word that Nathan Pisani has done across the season which earned him the Best Club Person award, as well as Jacinta Carr and Carlie Hageman who received President's Awards for all their work in the junior space.

We wish to congratulate all award winners on fantastic seasons and dedication and commitment to our club. You can see all winners listed below:

INVERLEIGH BEATS SURF COAST TO WIN B2, SPILLER SKITTLES SUNS WITH 6 WICKETS

BPCA B2 Grand Final
Inverleigh v Surf Coast
Inverleigh Recreation Reserve
Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22

By Mark Heenan

Victory tasted sweet for Inverleigh Cricket Club after they won the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association B2 title (R Menzies Shield) on Sunday March 22.
Inverleigh Cricket Club (8/198) defeated the fourth-placed Surf Coast Suns Cricket Club (121) by 77 runs in the two-day grand final decider at Inverleigh Cricket Club thanks to a brilliant six-wicket haul from Kookaburra bowler Matthew Spiller (6/39 from 19 overs) on day two.
It made amends for the home side, the Inverleigh 2nd XI suffered defeat in the C1 grand final last season by 20 runs against eventual winners Collendina.
Seven of the Inverleigh B2 premiership players including skipper Leigh Hazlewood, Paul Hageman, Campbell Bishop, Mike Myers, Marcus Warton, Henry Carr and Eoin Flett all played in the C1 grand final loss 12 months ago.
Inverleigh elected to bat first and batted their allotted 60 overs on Saturday March 21.
Kookaburra pair Eoin Flett (48) and B2 captain Leigh Hazlewood (46) were among the leading run scorers for the home side.
Hazlewood hit eight boundaries.
Paul Hageman (30) made a quick fire contribution from only 38 balls.
In-form Surf Coast bowler Mathews Pularkalayil Mathew (4/72 from 18 overs) grabbed four wickets.
In his last four matches including the grand final, Mathew had taken 17 wickets.

Suns’ opening bowler Satvir Deol (2/45 from 14 overs) also picked up two wickets.

On day two Kookaburra cricketer Matthew Spiller caused carnage with the ball for the Surf Coast batsmen.
One of Spiller’s key dismissals was Surf Coast opener Sukbir Chanal (0) who only lasted two balls.
Chanal ended up being the leading run scorer in B2 with 576 runs at 48 and scored three hundreds in 2025/26.
Suns’ player Satvir Deol (22) was the top run scorer for his side in the grand final.
Surf Coast was bowled out for 121 in 42.5 overs and fell well short of Inverleigh’s target.
Inverleigh quartet Henry Carr (1/17 from six overs), Marcus Warton (1/37 from 11 overs), Matt Carr (1/5 from four overs) and Donovan Osborne (1/3 from 1.5 overs).

A big congratulations to Lockie Platt and Marcus Warton who both received accolades for their seasons at last night’s BPCA presentation evening,

Lockie was selected in the BPCA Team of the Year. He had a tremendous year with the bat, making 408 runs at 37, including 2 half centuries and 1 century. He also took 18 catches behind the stumps and one stumping.

Marcus was clearly the stand out bowler and in this year’s B2 competition. He took 28 wickets 11.46. This included 2 x 6 wickets hauls. Marcus has now won this award twice.

Well done boys!
