An update of one of my eductions. My last video basically showed a failed attempt where 80 percent of the bees had evacuated the eduction hive. So i had to reassess my initial set-up. So I went and used a fair bit of tape and blocked of any entry and exit routes from the mother hive, and have successfully diverted them through to the eduction box once again. Things have picked up, and the activity level inside the hive is going gangbusters.
Have also added a larger portion of brood to the hive in hopes to help "jump start" it, which in a nut shell basically means, changing the mindset of the bees collectively away from just using the box as an extra storage supply, and instead redirecting them to hopefully building it into a full functioning self sufficient hive with brood and queen. It may or may not work, but here's to hoping.
I believe it's now been close to 6-7 months since I began this whole process with this particular eduction(as I have many others).
The first video is from roughly 3 and a half weeks ago. And the second 5 days ago.
I hope this video helps with anyone out there learning what and what nots to do(with all my mistakes😆) when educting a hive.
Enjoy, and thanks for watching.
