Hornsby Lions Netball Club Hornsby Lions Netball Club, part of the Hills District Netball Association playing at Pennant Hills We are a close club and welcome any new members.

We are a Non for Profit Club and we play at Pennant Hills in the HDNA. The club was created almost 20 years ago and has grown over the years. There are Summer and Spring Night comps that are run for about 10 weeks in the off season and then there is the larger Winter comp that runs from April to August/September

Under 11 Grand Final Preview

The Under 11's have had a dominant season but it didn't start perfectly with the team losing 9-7.

6 of these Little Lions played together last year. they all played up an age to fit to get a full team and it was a tough season, they only averaged 1 goal per game but they did manage one glorious win.

So for a few of them they may have thought here we go again.

Well the next week there was a sign that there was something special about this group, they won 17-1, the week after 38-0, the week after that 19-2. This was not going to be like last year. The 4 new players mixed with the 6 that had worked on their games were blending incredibly.

The team put together 11 straight wins going into the finals. The defence was a cornerstone with only once have they conceded double figures.

When they came to the Semi Final they were ready and brought there best game winning 16-5.

But these Lions are not complacent they are playing Carlingford who are the team that beat them in that first round, Two other times we played them in regular season we won by just 3 goals.

There will be a big crowd ready to cheer them on, for most of them its their first Grand Final in anything. The Lions community is right behind them.

Go get them girls!

Grand Final Preview C2

The Lions of C2 that are playing in the Grand Final are actually one of two teams from the Lions in the Division. Before the Grand Final I want to share with you a little story on how the season went and how they line up against their opponents.

The Lions had a mixed start to the season, they won their first round 42-29 but lost their second round 37-28, they then went on a 4 game winning streek to be leading the ladder after 6 rounds.

They then won 2 of their next 3 to maintain strength to go into the School Holiday break still at the top.

Then they faced adversity, they lost 3 in a row including a 24 goal defeat to Thornleigh and it was then all about hanging on to a finals berth.

Alas star defender Samara came back from an overseas sojourn and they built momentum winning the last 3 games to get to 3rd on the ladder.

Week 1 of the Finals they defeated Normanhurst after a horror start that saw them 6-0 down and then in the Preliminary Final they held their nerve to get a 3 goal win against Thornleigh in hot and windy conditions. This team has plenty of spirit and will fight to the end.

So that brings us to this week they take on Minor Premiers Beecroft, they have played 3 times previously Hornsby winning the first time 42-29, Beecroft the second 39-27 and Beecroft just getting the chocolates in the last time they played by only 4 goals 26-22. Over the three games Beecroft have scored just 3 more goals.

We are the underdogs but we are a big chance of getting the title.

It promises to be a cracking game, don't miss your chance to support the Lions, you could be the difference!

A great effort by the 14s today losing to St Agatha’s 37-30. They gave it their all in peak heat. The parents rallied with hydralyte, ice blocks and umbrellas but it was not to be. Great improvement from last year and always showed great heart and sportsmanship. Go Lions!
