Good Afternoon, after a couple of weeks of no cricket here is the wrap up of results from the weekend.

The under 13s team scored an impressive win against Henty at home who had beaten Holbrook in their previous encounter. Holbrook bowled first and did well to restrict Henty to 9-64 from its 30 overs. Logan McCarthy and Sophie Burey both took two wickets to be the pick of the bowlers. Holbrook in response lost just 5 wickets and needed just 16.2 overs to chase the target down. Alex Mohr and Jimmy Snow (13* each) and Raphael Shaw (9*) set up the chase. The Woomargama Hotel award went to Alastair Jefferies who bowled well and batted for Henty as they were short. The Bakery award went to Alex Mohr for his effort with the bat.

The under 16s boys went over to Henty with only 8 players but posted a convincing victory. Batting first, Holbrook lost two early wickets although recovered nicely to post 2/148. Ollie Cardile (41*) and Jye Livermore (42*) both retired after getting through the new ball whilst Liam Mathewson (27*) and Dom Valena (21*) finished the innings strongly. Holbrook then bowled and fielded well in patches to knock Henty over for 102. Ollie Cardile took 3 wickets (all bowled) whilst Dom Valena and captain Eli Toll both took 2.

The B grade boys met Osborne at Culcairn and lost a close game that could hurt their chances of making the top 6. Bowling first, Holbrook missed a few opportunities in the field which allowed Osborne to reach 9-166. Jamie McCarthy (3/22) and youngster Liam Mathewson (3/30) were both outstanding with the ball. In reply Holbrook had 7 batsmen reach double figures although none where able to make a big score meaning the brookers where all out for 150, falling just 16 runs short of the ladder leaders. 17 year old Klay Liddell top scored with 18*.

The A grade side posted a much needed win against Rand at home after two disappointing losses. Bowling first, Holbrook was exceptional in the field taking catches and clinching two run outs which restricted Rand to 8/142. Opening bowlers Kieren McCarthy (3/25) and Ben Parker (1/12) were terrific taking wickets and giving away nothing. Holbrook lost a couple of early wickets in the chase but then steadied well to pass the total in just 28 overs. Hamish Mackinlay (65*) rode his luck early to set up the chase whilst 17 year old Harry Greenhill (29) and Max Heriot (23*) played nicely as well.

Good Morning, here is the wrap of cricket results from the last weekend of 2025 as we head into the Christmas/New Year break.

Batting first, Holbrook posted 4/132 with Henry Beavis continuing his strong form to score 29* whilst Orlando White (10*), Zye Liddell (17*) and Jimmy Snow (16*) were also unbeaten. Holbrook then put in their best bowling effort of the year to knock Brock Burrum over for 42. Jimmy Snow and Henry Beavis both took two wickets each to cap off a great all round day for both players. Holbrook then put in its best bowling and fielding effort of the year to bowl Osborne out for 56 with the improving Curtis Hallsbree taking 2/15. The Boost Juice player of the day was Ollie Cardile (40* and 1/1). The under 16s are undefeated at the top of the ladder.

The B grade team had no game as most senior cricket was finished due to finishing earlier than juniors for harvest. The B grade side currently sits 7th out of 9 teams although will fancy their chances of sneaking into the top 6 with more players expected to be available after Christmas.

The A grade boys posted a large victory against an understrength The Rock Yerong Creek at home. This game was played as the round 13 clash scheduled to take place on Feb 14 (Holbrook Races Day) and the game was moved to avoid this. Holbrook CC would like to thank TRYC for accomadating this move and playing an extra game before the end of the year. After being sent in to bat Holbrook’s top order went to work with Tom Heriot (52 off 75) posting his first ever score of 50 plus, whilst the in form Lewis Bowen (109* off 102) batted beautifully throughout the entire 40 overs to post his second A grade Ton! Hamish Mackinlay (86* off 65) batted aggressively to finish the innings off. Holbrook’s 1/258 is believed to be one it’s highest 40 over scores. Holbrook bowled well in patches to restrict TRYC to 9/154. Jett Liddell was the best bowler with 3/19. The A grade boys have won 3 on the trot to finish the year in equal 2nd position albeit playing one extra game.

The Holbrook Cricket Club wishes everyone in the district a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year we look forward to seeing everyone in 2026. in for
