And the results are in! Absolutely sensational effort by all the teams, but in no way biased, especially to our crew! Half of which had never sailed the boat and all of which had to overcome some sort of challenge during the race!!!

All boats have now crossed the finish line, and the results are final for this years Willie Smith's Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race!

Another fantastic race, with all competitors safely docked at Elizabeth Street Pier.

Audere Scores a Hat Trick in the Beauty Point to Low Head Race!

After an awesome start, Audére Sailing Tasmania (Andrew Sinclair) has dominated the first race, Beauty Point to Low Head, securing victories in PHS, IRC, and ORC . This impressive performance marks three out of three for the team in the first race of the L2H Series. Times for this race were recorded as the fleet rounded the Farewell Beacon at Low Head.

As the race continues toward Hobart, Audere will aim to stay in touch with Fork in the Road (Gary Smith), keeping itself firmly in contention for line honours and the main race from Beauty Point to Hobart (race 2).

The first results also highlighted strong performances from other competitors. Sassy (Tim White) took 2nd place in PHS, closely followed by Invincible (Bryan Walpole) in 3rd. In IRC, Scaramouche (Anthony Williams) claimed 2nd, with Prion Racing (Donovan Oak/Jory Linscott) rounding out the podium in 3rd.

While Fork in the Road Yachting was the first to reach Low Head, it also secured 2nd place in ORC, with Prion continuing its consistent form to take 3rd.

The 6.03pm radio sked confirmed positions as the fleet heads into Banks Strait.

The fleet now presses on toward Hobart, with plenty of excitement still to come as the race unfolds.

Some times what goes up does not necessarily want to come down, the team tackled a rather reluctant headsail at dawn this morning, but in the end persistence paid off and we didn’t have to sacrifice the sail so we could get the kite up…. Phew!

We’re back in full send it mode now with Schoeten Island firmly in our sights!

The end of Day 1 and we’re watching the sun set off Waterhouse Island…

It’s been a fun couple of hours, with winds so consistently above 30, some gnarly waves crashing over the top, but still all smiles and looking forward to dinner.
