"On the weekend of the 30th and 31st of May a group of around 17 yogis and yoginis assembled at the old Unitarian Peace Church hall in East Melbourne to learn the basics of Yantra Yoga from Mathew Long, who kindly voyaged across Bass Strait to teach a few days organised by Samyasling Dzogchen Community Melbourne. There were an assortment of practitioners: some old students refreshing their practice, and some totally new.
Four people knowing Yantra's true value travelled from interstate to participate. Several of the new aspiring yoga students came from the Rainbodhi Buddhist Group Melbourne [they had already learnt some vajra dance from Thuy Nguyen 's previous Melb. courses] and they provided very positive feedback, including one person who said it was the first time in their life they
really felt they were breathing!
Mathew as usual presented instruction progressively and very clearly; he showed unremitting patience during the course and everyone applied themselves diligently . The combination of these 2 factors meant we powered through: 9 breathings (Lungro Selwa), loosening joints (Tsigjong), warmups, 8 movements (Lungsang), 1st series Yantras and some Rhythmic Breathing (Pranayama of the 2nd series). Math answered with authority many interesting questions to clarify practice".
