Someone asked me recently why teachers like Casey, Kate, Shayne and many of our senior staff don’t post much on social media during classes at House of Dance.
I actually had a huge chuckle because Casey’s response echoed in my ears!
“I’m too busy teaching.”
I’m not stopping a class of 35 students to ask four children to repeat a combination for a social media clip.
I want my students seated in front of me, listening, engaging and connecting in real time.
I want them walking out of class feeling inspired, challenged and motivated ...not waiting for validation through an Instagram post.

Thank goodness we have a content creator who can quietly sneak into classes and be a fly on the wall, because HOD staff rarely pick up their phones while teaching 🤣🤣
They are busy teaching in real time.
The best clicks don’t happen online.
They happen through real connection.
A teacher who notices a child is struggling.
A correction that suddenly makes something click.
A moment of praise.
A room full of dancers working hard together.
Teamwork!
Sometimes I think we’ve forgotten what real engagement looks like.
At HOD, it’s not measured by views, likes or shares.
It’s measured by the energy in the room.
Stand outside one of our studio doors for five minutes and you’ll hear it.
The laughter.
The loud music.
The applause.
The encouragement.
The determination.
You’ll see children completely immersed in learning, creating and growing.
That isn’t lost on us.
We know how lucky we are to witness it every single day.
Don’t get me wrong ...we love sharing snippets of our dance family and celebrating our students online. Our content creator is fab!
Casey's filming ....not so much. 🤣
But our priority will always be the dancers standing in front of us, not the followers behind a screen.
The magic has never been in the post.
It’s always been in the class.
