*We have a delete button that erases any bad karma.*

( Based on the Answer Gurudev gave during a public event in Bucharest, Romania 🇷🇴 )

« KARMA » explained by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (in a Scientific Analogy):

Our mind is like a sophisticated computer. KARMA is what we feed into it-the thoughts, impressions, habits, and experiences we input every day. Once fed, the same algorithms and patterns keep popping up automatically, influencing our reactions, tendencies, and life situations.

You don’t have complete control over everything that appears on the screen-some past inputs (« Prarabdha Karma » ) will play out. However, you always have a choice: What do you focus your attention on? What new inputs do you provide? What actions do you take? These choices shape your future KARMA (« Agami Karma »).

The good news? There is a powerful Delete button-Meditation !! It helps clear old, unwanted impressions, erase negative patterns, and create a cleaner, freer inner space. Through awareness, breathing practices, and meditation, Seva, Singing, Celebrations, you can reduce the grip of past karmas and program a more positive future.

This modern analogy makes ancient wisdom practical: Your mind is programmable. Choose wisely what you feed it, witness thoughts without attachment, and use meditation to reset.

Q: Gurudev, Is it true that a woman has to reincarnate in the body of man to attain enlightenment? According to the textbooks of University of Toronto it says that and also this book says that this is written in the Vedas.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - Totally wrong! Immediately write to them a letter telling them this is wrong. It is not said like that anywhere in the Vedas. Let them give me a quotation. It is simply not true.

Yes, it is what is called the Smritis, but the Smritis are not the Vedas, they were written by different Kings of different times. In the ancient times, different Kings of different kingdoms wrote the rules and regulations for the society.

One of those is Manu Smriti, in which he has written only one thing, that women are not fit for freedom because she needs protection by the father, and then by the husband, and later on by the son. All through her life she needs protection, so she is not fit for freedom.

But this is only in the Smritis, which means it is only a King’s opinion. Nowhere in the Vedas is it said that women cannot attain enlightenment. There are women saints! Gargi and Maitri, they are enlightened ones.

Tell them to read Yoga Vasishta Book. Lessons of the Vedas are in the Yoga Vasistha. It is a woman who attained enlightenment first, Chudala. And then another woman called Leela.

Leela and Chudala, these are the women who have attained enlightenment first, and then had their husbands attain through them. We should ask them to change their text. Don't believe in this gender preference for mukti.

Q: Gurudev, I want to lose my mind, what do I do?

Sri Sri - Just sit here when the hollow and empty meditation is happening (in Courses) and the mind automatically dissolves. Your wanting to lose it is the problem. Just be! However the mind is let it be. If it is full of garbage say, ‘Okay, let it be.’

All the garbage in your head is organic compost, let it be. You’re trying to get rid of it is a biggest problem. It is a big work, so for God’s sake, don’t do such work. Mind has been given by God, let it be. This is the sutra – 'Let it be'.

Look back at your own life: haven’t you come through situations when you thought you were never going to make it? You worried last year and the year before, and yet here you are — complete in yourself.

So know that events cannot touch you. Have faith; it is your greatest blessing.

Q: Gurudev, What happens to our consciousness that just by entering the ashram we feel happy and light?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - Yes, the vibrations of the place does affect the mind. That is why, ashrams are there and temples of knowledge are there for you to meditate and soak in the atmosphere.

Whatever is happening, that energy gets absorbed by the trees, stones and everything around in the creation. Why do people go to Bodhgaya 2000 years after Buddha got enlightenment? The Bodhi tree is still there and people feel the vibration there. Why do we go to different temples or Jyotirlingas? All these temples have at one point of time, been places of knowledge and saints and sages have lived there. That’s why these places became Teerthsthaan (places of spiritual significance or pilgrimage spots).

But today, you see that all the energy has disappeared from most of these places. They have become places of rituals and not meditation. We should re-establish meditation in all these places. That is why it is said, ‘Swayamhiteerthanipunanthisantah’ (sages sanctify all the places of pilgrimage by their mere presence). This is needed.

What was Rishikesh some 40 years back? It is not what it is today. 40 years back people were discussing knowledge and wisdom. And today, there is only loud speakers and some activities there.

Once in a satsang in US, one devotee named Wally told me,"Gurudev, I have some property for you to consider as an Ashram in the U.S."

I replied that I want every home to be like an ashram.

How many of you consider your home to be an Ashram? If not, what keeps your home from being an Ashram? What are the impediments? What do you think are the qualities of an Ashram?

What is home? A home is a place where you are at rest. Where u can be urself and feel comfortable. For me, the entire world is my home. Wherever I go, I feel the same belongingness with the people. The whole world is my family, my home.

Ashram means where there is no shram (effort); where all the efforts, all the strains of the mind, heart and body drop. All the fears, insecurities, stress, everything drops and you experience deep rest. Every home should be like an ashram.
