It’s been a quiet few months off the water for the Patriot Blown Alcohol Displacement Race Team following our racing in January, but behind the scenes the workshop has been anything but quiet.

Over the past months we’ve been hard at work developing our new all-aluminium Pontiac Big Chief engine package, with a huge amount of research, development, going into every part of the build as we prepare for the next chapter of the team.

The engine,is now nearing the next major milestone — dyno testing and engine setup — where we’ll continue refining the combination and gathering valuable data as part of the ongoing R&D process.

We’re expecting the new package to produce in excess of 2000 horsepower, and we’re excited to see the results as development continues.

A massive amount of effort has gone into getting the team back to this point after January’s setback, and we’re looking forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to returning to the water.

As a team, we would also like to thank Bob Fisher Superchargers Rhemac Machine Shop, Trevor Green from Greens Welding Solutions for their support throughout this project. The support plays a massive role in helping programs like ours continue to move forward.

After the challenges we faced following January, the support from our sponsors, family, friends, and followers has played a huge role in helping keep this moving forward.

Building and developing a competitive blown alcohol displacement program takes an enormous amount of time, effort, and commitment, and we are incredibly grateful to have businesses and people backing what we do both on and off the water.

Stay tuned — the next stage is going to be exciting.

Thank you - Clayton Marks.

A bit of an update about the last couple of weeks.
After we found a cracked blower it really set us back to the point of where we ran out of time to get on our A game and on the Wednesday before Mildura we started installing our Dart Engine from last year.

The problem was that last November we broke a water pickup hose and overheated the engine.
With no time to freshen it up we ran it at the first round with cooked piston rings, making it slower by about 2000 rpm and 30 mph so we retired from the event.

We fitted new rings and bearings last week, but as we use a large bore head gasket, couldn't get any in time so we used the old ones, unfortunately although they measured ok, they had been through the overheating issue that we had experienced.

Saturday we ran around ok but still a fair bit down on boost (20 pound) and speed but it was all we could do.

After checks on Sunday we knew we had a tired engine and just thought we would do what we could.

That all ended when we blew a head gasket and the oil breather caught fire, ending the weekend.

I blame myself for running out of time to be able to give Clayton a 140mph + boat to have a decent crack.

We needed to have all of our stuff fresh and ready to go and myself and the funding wasn't quite up to it.

We will be taking a break for a while now to regroup and while we didn't do very well, are very happy with the boats handling and the performance will be up there again soon.

There were 2 blokes that busted their asses over 2 weeks, in the shed and at the track, all through the long hot days for myself and Clayton and from the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank Bill Johnson and Phil Kevern so much for your help.

I was down with a stuffed knee and a leg infection and without the support of these guys throughout the week, we wouldn't have been able to run at all.

To my missus Trace thanks for putting up with this stuff and I love you ❤️

Thanks also to Chef Deb the master organiser😉

Thanks also to the people who rang and messaged asking if Clayton was ok, he has a slight burn on his arm and neck but is fine.

We will be back
Cheers Jamie
