Goolwa River Dragons

Goolwa River Dragons Who are we? GRD! Goolwa River Dragons was established in November 2019 under parent Club Adelaide Combined Dragon Boat Club (ACDC). The first 5 sessions are FREE!

Social paddling and race training on Tues nights (daylight saving)/Sun mornings Coorong Quays Marina, Hindmarsh Island. The sport of dragon boating is a whole-body workout where timing is key to success and power. You'll use the muscles in your arms, shoulders and back to pull your paddle through the water while your legs anchor you in place. Great for strengthening your abs and core. Come and try paddling, it's lots of crazy fun! You'll work hard in the boat but be ready to laugh and have fun.

Sunday paddle 🐲

After a very busy season of training, racing and scooping the medals 🥇 😜
we slowed down a bit to recharge.

Today 6 paddlers and a sweep went out on the water and had a beautiful easy 5 km on the Hindmarsh island dodging the rain. Followed by a social brunch at our local Riverside Cafe in Goolwa - feels great!

End of Season Catch-Up 🐉🍕

What a perfect way to wrap up the season — coming together off the water for a relaxed and fun night at Tanya & Greg’s 🎉

We were spoiled with delicious homemade pizzas 🍕, a bit of friendly competition on the shuffleboard, and most importantly — great company and plenty of laughs 🥳

It’s nights like these that remind us it’s not just about the paddling… it’s about the people, the friendships, and the moments we share along the way.

A big thank you to Tanya & Greg for opening your home and hosting such a special evening 🙏

Already looking forward to next season with this amazing crew 🐲⭐️

The competition season has finished but we continue paddling on the water!

End of season Masters Games 2026 – Mannum 🙌

What a weekend at the Masters Games in Mannum — and wow, did the weather turn it on for us!

With promising sunshine to wind gusts pushing close to 60 km/h, it felt less like dragon boating… and more like Viking-style paddling into battle! 💨🌊
But did that stop us? Not a chance.

A huge shoutout to our crew:
👏 Mel stepping up for her first time sweep racing — in those conditions!
🥁 Di, Tanya on the drum keeping us together
💪 Mariya, Cathy, Wayne, and Denise taking on their first Masters races — what a debut!
👏 Ben marshalling and keeping things running smoothly
💪 Greg doubling up — sweep and paddle!
🎉Everyone well done for their best efforts and power paddle!

Proud to paddle alongside ACDC Desert Dragons and ACDC Dragon Fire Dragon Boat Club combining strength, spirit, and teamwork across the board 🖤💜🩵

Across Senior A, B & C categories — an incredible effort! 🎉🎉🎉

Great fun, strong team effort, and plenty of grit in tough conditions.
More than medals, it was about showing up, backing each other, and pushing through together.
