Last weekend Kando Martial Arts Kando Hughesdale and Kando Martial Arts Highett Kando Highett got together to do a couple of friendly rounds of sparring, giving a chance for all Junior belt levels (we were having too much fun on the Friday night, and forgot to take pictures of Brown and Black!) to understand the pressures of sparring in a competitor setting, helping to provide feedback post the bouts and some general feedback for those that were there.

Fair to say, we'll need to organise more of these!!! Thank you, Jesse Sensei (Renshi) for the idea! :)

6 Lessons from the Black Belt Gradings

Last night was awesome. Walking in and seeing 13 junior black belts dominating the front row was new for Kando Martial Arts Highett.

It was a lovely display. This grading with those that graded, some very apparent lessons stood out, and if you look closely enough, on and off the mat, the choice is yours in how to adapt these to your life.

1. Consistency alone does not produce results, consistency with the emphasis of intentional direction, does; Intentional Directed Consistency.

2. Fundamentals are king. Period. No foundation, no application. No application, then we are just dancing. (I could write a book here).

3. The process of working toward a goal, keeps the mind, and tolerates the grind. It becomes bigger than you, it's about a future you.

4. Refinement means building depth, not breadth.

5. Reflection in yourself (not comparison to others) of where you are and where you want to go, is your GPS Navigation, reroute, and keep going.

6. Lastly, a bit of a weird one; Limitations exist, but people quit before they find them. Those that have them, find unlimited potential within the restriction. GENUINE restriction, forces economy.

Be charged with the power, knowledge, hard work, sweat, blood, tears and emotions that brought you to this day, and use it all to SMASH the day.

You got this.

Black Belts are advised to come down - we've been through it before, we understand it, and if you can come down show your support and encouragement, that would be amazing.

Parents of Juniors (and maybe some Teen and Adult); This will be a hard slog to sit and watch. However, your support is VITAL.

You are the support that have been guiding and encouraging your kids through their limits, one belt at a time.

Those looking to grade next year to Black (or december)?: COME DOWN. Have a watch, see what the grading standard looks like, what needs to be done.

KINDER NINJAS & LITTLE DRAGONS

No changes during either week. Classes will run as normal.

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
* Juniors White Belts - 4:00PM
* Juniors Red & Yellow Belts - 4:45PM
* Juniors Orange & Green Belts - 5:30PM

TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS
* Juniors Blue & Purple Belts - 4:00PM
* Junior Brown & Black Belts - 4:45PM

A big thank you for coach Jerry () for making it down to Melbourne for the first time (and shoutout Kero aka sasquash ;)), and thank you to the members that came down, from complete beginners to the seasoned Martial Artists in the room, making Coach's trip successful to want to do it again!
