🐴A massive Saturday metro program at Melton, and Stawell Connections is right across the action with Jason Ainsworth saddling up a pair of smart two-year-olds, alongside Daryl "Dazzler" Douglas taking on a stacked book of drives.

Jason Ainsworth RunnersR6 #6 Lous Mambo (Driven by Hamilton district driver Jackie Barker) – Steps out in the Tatlow Stakes. Will be looking to use his gate speed from barrier 5 to get right into the action.

R6 #8 Swim Suit (Driven by Jason Ainsworth) – Follows out from inside the second row. Will be hunting cheap sectionals along the markers to rattle home late.

Stawell Connections Update October 29

Thursday night at Ballarat & District Trotting Club Inc

Race 3: The Woodlands Showdown

We have a huge showdown with three Stawell connections entered in the same race to try and sweep the trifecta!

Michelle Wight takes the reins on her own runner, Normandy Nugget.

Ada Massa is driving Zwick for trainer Toby Ainsworth.
Rounding out the trio is Marnie Bibby’s Swiss Lightning, with Daryl Douglas in the sulky.

Let's see if they can get it done!

Race 8: Horsham Harness Racing Club.

A special shoutout to our good friend from Horsham, Justin Lane, who has Mydeepestdesire running in the last race of the night. Best of luck to James Herbertson who takes the drive to cap off the trip.

Maryborough Redwood Carnival Weekend 🐴

It’s a massive weekend of trotting ahead at Maryborough for the Redwood Carnival, and we have plenty of district locals lining up across Friday and Sunday.

• Paul Rousch: Concongella's own Paul Rousch sends around Castles In The Sky in Race 1 on Friday, with Mark Hayes in the sulky.

• The Ainsworths: The Great Western and Navarre stables are busy this Friday. Jason Ainsworth takes the reins on Carpophorus in Race 5.

Meanwhile, Toby Ainsworth has a team of three stepping out with Ada Massa driving: Rasengan in Race 5, Robert John in Race 6, and So Much Swagger in Race 9.

• Michelle Wight: Michelle takes on the dual role of trainer and driver with Chillhunnybunny in Race 6 on Friday.

• Tina Ridis & Daryl Crone: Tina and Daryl have their co-owned trotters running on both days. Tina trains and drives Rastamon on Friday in Race 7, and backs up on Redwood Sunday steering I Dream Of Millie in the Matchmaker Mile.

• Peter Manning: The Manning stable brings a strong hand to Redwood Sunday, with Jodi Quinlan driving Gulbahar in Race 1 and Kamaran in Race 3, plus Chris Svanosio taking the drive on Callinan in the Group 1 Redwood Classic.

A quick note from the club: Peter won’t be on track this weekend, and we are all sending our best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

The Stawell Harness Racing Club sends our deepest thoughts and prayers to Peter Manning and his family following his recent accident. Peter is a true legend of our sport, and our entire community wishes him a smooth and speedy recovery.

Peter Manning airlifted to Melbourne hospital

Legendary harness racing trainer Peter Manning has been involved in an accident at his Great Western property.

Peter was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital today. He is conscious and has a fractured eye socket. He will undergo further assessment over the coming days.

We ask that everyone please respect Peter and his family’s privacy at this time. Our thoughts are with them, and we wish Peter all the best in his recovery.

The acceptances are huge, and with the weather looking to improve, it is shaping up to be a terrific two days of racing—especially Sunday’s massive Group 1 race day featuring the Aldebaran Park Redwood Classic and the Yabby Dam Farms Trotters Derby!*

The Peter Manning trained HUXHAM CHUBB worked up three wide from the tail of the field in the final lap, before cruising to a comfortable victory in the hands of driver, James Herbertson.
