The biggest thing that makes my editing FAST actually happens before I even start editing.

I’m getting my exposure, white balance and light right in camera.

I’m shooting consistently throughout the session.

So when I sit down to edit, I’m not trying to fix problems that could have been avoided while shooting.

I open the images in Photoshop, apply my edit, make the small adjustments each image needs and move through the gallery quickly because I already know exactly what I want the finished images to look like.

After 14+ years photographing families, I’ve learned that a fast editing workflow starts LONG before you open Photoshop.

One of the biggest mistakes I see newer family photographers make is trying to perfectly position every person.

Put your hand here.
Turn your body this way.
Look at Mum.
Now everyone look at me.
Smile.

And then wondering why the photos feel stiff.

Instead, I give families something to do.

A good prompt creates movement, connection and genuine reactions and while they’re doing it, I can concentrate on composition, light and capturing all those little in-between moments.

The best part? One simple prompt can give you SO much variety without needing 50 different poses saved on your phone.

Meta doesn’t need you to tell it that your ideal client is a 32-year-old mum who likes coffee, interiors and family photography. 😅

It has BILLIONS of data points telling it who is most likely to click, enquire and actually BUY.

The problem is, most photographers aren’t giving Meta the right signals.

They’re boosting posts.
Optimising for engagement.
Choosing the wrong campaign objective.
Or running ads without their Pixel set up properly.

If your Meta Ads aren’t converting, don’t immediately assume “Meta Ads don’t work.” 👀

Before you spend another dollar, check these 3 things:

1. Is your Pixel connected properly?
If Meta can’t track what happens after someone clicks, it can’t learn who is actually buying.
2. Is your creative actually GOOD?
Your ad needs to stop the scroll, speak directly to your ideal client and give them a reason to take action.
3. Are you running a SALES campaign?
If you want bookings or purchases, stop asking Meta to find people who engage or click. Tell it you want people who BUY.

Meta is incredibly good at finding the type of person you ask it to find.

You just need to give it the right instructions.

Posting your mini sessions on Instagram and hoping your followers see them is NOT a marketing strategy. 👀

Organic reach is unpredictable and if you want consistent bookings, you need a way to put your offer in front of the right people instead of waiting for them to find you.

I sell 300+ mini sessions every year, and one of the biggest reasons I can sell at that volume is because I don’t rely on Instagram alone.

I use Meta Ads to reach families who are actually likely to book.

And no… I don’t mean hitting “Boost Post.” 😅
