Gympie Speedway End of Season Spectacular! 💥🏁

Last meeting of the season done and dusted.

Unfortunately, the racing side of the night didn’t go the way we planned. Devastated is an understatement. We broke a right front hub in the second heat, which ripped the shock out and ended our night early. After the countless hours, late nights, hard work and commitment it takes to get these cars to the track each meeting, it’s heartbreaking loading a damaged car back onto the trailer before the end of the night. But that’s speedway sometimes. The highs are incredible and the lows can hit pretty hard too.

Even with our misfortune, it was awesome to see the crowd enjoying themselves and getting behind the racing. Our stickers unfortunately didn’t arrive in time, so instead bubbles for the kids it was and from what we heard, they were a massive hit! 🫧🙌

The club also put on a great show with the extra-long interval, which created such a great atmosphere. It was awesome getting the chance to chat with fans and see the kids enjoying sitting in the car.

A massive thank you as well to the GPRD crew for all the advice, support and time throughout the season. The knowledge Gary brings is incredibly valuable and I think I speak for all of us when I say we deeply appreciate everything he does for us.

Most importantly, thank you to the sponsors who help get us to the track every meeting. Without these legends, we simply wouldn’t be out here racing week in and week out:

• Micstar Homes
• Turners Diesel Services
• T&L Concrete Pumping
• Kahler Electrical Services
• Echelon Family Daycare
• Lennard Drilling
• Total Epoxy Flooring
• Tahlia Jayne Photography
• GTR Fabrication

So, that wraps up our season, a little shorter than planned but we’re hopefully getting on top of the teething issues that come with moving into a new class. We’ve got a solid list of improvements to make over the off-season and we’re already looking forward to coming back next season bigger, better and ready to have another crack. 🔥🏁

Keep an eye out on our socials over the off-season too, we’ve got a few bits and bobs planned ahead that we’re excited to share with everyone. Make sure to invite your friends and family to the page as well so they can keep up to date with everything happening behind the scenes and heading into next season! 👀

See you all there!

And lastly, Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums out there, especially our speedway mums. You ladies are next-level champions and the backbone of so many race teams. 💐❤️

KINGAROY SPEEDWAY | RACE RECAP 🏁

Strong showing at Kingaroy Speedway with consistent pace across the heats — P1, P2, and a charge from the rear to P5.

The feature exposed a likely right rear issue which impacted balance and forward drive, forcing us back through the field. While the result didn’t reflect our speed, the data and laps gained are invaluable as we continue refining the package.

Huge thanks to Pete from Lennard Drilling for his support on the night, including recovery and on-site assistance with the mobile workshop.

Schedule update: Carina Speedway has revised this weekend’s program, removing the 20/20 format. We’ll confirm shortly whether we line up for the standard meeting or shift focus to the Kingaroy Show meeting.

Appreciation to our partners for their ongoing support:
Micstar Homes
T&L Concrete Pumping
Turners Diesel
Kahler Electrical Services
Lennard Drilling
Echelon Family Daycare

We reset, refine, and return.

Been a bit quiet on the racing front lately — this weather has really made it tough to get to meetings.

Firstly, yesterday we celebrated the life of Annette Cowley. Taken far too soon. My thoughts are with the Cowley, Pagel and Henshaw families during this difficult time.

Secondly, the February meeting at Gympie Speedway didn’t go to plan early. Had a rough run through the heats with a fair bit of damage, but managed to fight back through the field in the feature and finish 7th, getting back on pace.

Big thanks to Micstar Homes for supplying a box of stubby coolers for the interval giveaway — always great to give back to the crowd.

With Gympie not running Production Sedans at the next meeting, it looks like I’ll be waiting until May to race at home again. In the meantime, I’ll look at doing a few away meetings and making some improvements to the car — depending on how these fuel prices behave!

Hope everyone’s staying on top of things during these crazy times. Support your local businesses, check in on your mates, and stay safe. ⛽️☣️

Thanks to the sponsors for their continued support:

Kings Royal 2026

We headed out to Kingaroy to continue learning the Proddy. We battled steering issues and brake knock-off all weekend, trying to make the stock components work to stay on budget, but it’s becoming clear that they’re not quite cutting it. After a heap of changes and some tough heats, I qualified 37th out of 70, which put me near the back of the B-Main.

I genuinely thought Nicholas Henshaw and I were going to get heat stroke after spending all day on the car trying to get the power steering working. We managed to get it working okay on throttle, but pretty much non-existent off throttle.

Rolled out for the B with zero expectations. Managed to drive up to 2nd and was quickly catching the leader when the gearbox let go.

Shame to finish on that note, but we did make some positive steps. Being 13th fastest in lap times over the weekend from 70. A proper racing steering setup might be on the cards. $$$

Massive thanks to my family, the GPRD crew, especially Nick for jumping on the tools way more than he should have (really appreciate it mate)—plus Jarrod, Pacey, Pete, and everyone else who lent a hand.

Please support the people who make this happen:
• Micstar Homes
• Turners Diesel
• T&L Concrete Pumping
• Kahler Electrical
• GPRD
• Lennard Drilling
• Echelon Family Daycare
