🚵‍♀️🥈 Great racing from junior member Reggie Stewart!

Representing St Xavier’s Primary School at Round 4 of the NSW Schools MTB Series in Tamworth, Reggie placed 2nd in the U11 Cross Country (XC) and 5th in the Funduro, a short, technical downhill event.

Her standout result in the longer XC race shows where Reggie’s strengths really shine — endurance, strength and determination, all skills she continues to build through triathlon.

⭐️ NSW Speedo Senior State SC Championships ⭐️

A huge congratulations to our own Josh Spinks, who had a fantastic weekend competing at the 2026 NSW Short Course Senior State Championships in Sydney.

Josh raced 11 events and came home with a PB in every single one, as well as three top-10 finishes!

✨8th – 800m Freestyle: 9:06.14, a massive 13.89-
second PB
✨10th – 100m IM: 1:05.22, a 0.72-second PB
✨10th – 400m IM: 4:58.10, a huge 7.70-second PB

His standout swim was the 800m freestyle, where he took a massive 13.89 seconds off his previous best to finish 8th. He also broke five minutes in the 400m IM, swimming 4:58.10 and taking 7.70 seconds off his PB.

To qualify for that many events at Senior State is an extraordinary achievement in itself. To then PB in every race is a true reflection of your incredible work ethic, commitment to training and the trust you have placed in John and the process.

What a weekend, Josh and John! An outstanding set of results and so well deserved!

⭐ NSW Country Short Course Championships 2026 ⭐

What a fantastic weekend of racing at the NSW Country Short Course Championships. Congratulations to Josh Spinks, Pippa Wark, Lizzie Harris and Lucie Purkiss on everything they achieved over the weekend.

Josh Spinks had an outstanding meet after qualifying for 17 events and choosing to race 15.

🥈 Silver - 400m Individual Medley
🥉 Bronze - 100m Individual Medley
⚡ 14 PBs from 15 races
🏅 Three 4th place finishes
🏅 Six Top 10 finishes
✅ 12 NSW State Qualifying Times

Josh also competed as a newly turned 14-year-old after celebrating his birthday just last week. To top it all off, he is now the fastest Gunnedah coached swimmer of all time across 10 events. An incredible achievement that reflects years of hard work and dedication.

Pippa Wark also had a championship to remember.

⚡ 5 races, 5 PBs
🏅 4 Top 10 finishes
✅ 4 NSW State Qualifying Times, missing a fifth by just 0.17 seconds

Pippa has also become the fastest 11-year-old Gunnedah swimmer in both the 100m Individual Medley and 100m Breaststroke, setting a new benchmark for future swimmers to chase.

Lizzie Harris and Lucie Purkiss showed exactly what determination looks like. The commitment it takes to train, with endless 4:00 am starts and regular trips from Tamworth, is something to be incredibly proud of. Their hard work was on display all weekend as they raced with courage, gave their all and represented themselves brilliantly.

A big thank you to John Hickey for the time, planning and dedication that goes into preparing these swimmers. The results this weekend are a credit to the work that’s been done over many months.

Thank you also to Nichole, who is always on pool deck helping to get our swimmers ready and supporting them through every training session and competition. Your support never goes unnoticed.

And to all of our families, thank you for the early mornings, kilometres travelled and the fun that makes weekends like this possible. We’re looking forward to seeing even more of our swimmers in action at the upcoming Area Championships.

⭐️ 2026 NSW PSSA Swimming Championships ⭐️

Big congratulations to our junior swimmers who competed at the NSWPSSA Swimming Championships
Belle Nichols, Pippa Wark, Millie Lyle, Tabitha Shearer, Elizabeth Harris, Archer Cannon and Cooper Cannon.

A big stage and a massive achievement to reach this level. Strong racing, PBs, new experiences and memories that stick.

Special mention to Tabitha for helping Burren bring home gold in the Peter Dobson Relay. A proud moment 🏆

That wraps up our long course season for juniors and what a season it has been. From first 25m at training, to first carnivals, through to zone, Dio, Polding, State and Nationals, it has been great to see the progress right across the group!!

The attitude, work and commitment from athletes and families has been there the whole way and it has been a pleasure supporting swimmers from our local community and across the North West.

Special shoutout to Cooper Galton and Courtney Bush competing today at the NSW CHS Swimming Championships. Go well and have fun! 🏊‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️
