Watsonia Heights FC

Watsonia Heights FC We are a community club State League's Men's (Division 4 North) and Women's (Division 6 North-West) We stay with the club and we play for the group.

Watsonia Heights Football Club strives to build enjoyment of the game for players of junior and senior ages, male and female whilst being a part of an inclusive, family oriented community that aims for excellence and fair play both on and off field. We are a club that believes in fun on and off the field; while we love to win, we are not going to do it by compromising our team morale or values, or

by paying ‘mercenaries’ to play for the club for all the wrong reasons. We joined the club because we had all heard great things from everyone associated with it or we crossed from a rival because we saw how much fun they had during both success and defeat. We play for the club because of the good-humoured, jovial team environment where we are given the chance to compete but also where we make life-long mates. Facilities:

The club's facilities include two clubrooms and playing fields at both Gabonia Avenue Reserve, and Elder Street Street Reserve, Watsonia. Senior Men's Competition:

The club can trace it origins back to 1970 and currently fields two adult male teams. The 'Heighters' must be one of the most culturally diverse clubs in Melbourne and prides itself on its open, friendly and family oriented culture. The senior teams train twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reserves and Seniors play on Saturdays at 1pm and 3pm respectively, while our Thirds team plays on Sundays. Juniors:

The club also fields several junior teams for age groups ranging from under 7s to under 18s that compete against other clubs during the Winter Season in the FFV junior competition. We also offer a MiniRoos program on Saturday morning for younger children (4-7 year olds) that want to learn the football basics in a fun and supportive environment. Women and Girls:

In 2017, the Watsonia Heights Women's Team will play in the Women's State League 2 North-West League. The Team has just completed its 9th season together. Watsonia Heights also has three junior female teams including Under 16s, Under 13s and Under 11s. The club has strong focus on female participation and fielded our first girls team - under 14s in 2005. The Senior Women's Team is always looking for new players, and new members are always welcome, including both experienced players and beginners. If you haven't played before but are keen and motivated, we will teach you how to play. Interested new members should email [email protected] for more details.

Round 11 of the State League 4NW has the Watsy boys hosting Bell Park SC (all the way from Geelong) at the Greensborough College Home of Football.

It has been many years since we have ‘locked horns’ with the lads from Bell Park. Back then it was always a tight contest and we don’t expect anything less from them now.

So come down to the offical ’Home of Football’ in Greensborough this Saturday and inspect the new grass pitches, the newly revealed Watsy Bar and witness the results of all the hard work from the Watsy volunteers as we officially left Elder Street Reserve to grow our club at Greensborough College.

We’re planning to have the Watsy BBQ spit in action to help celebrate the consolidation of our move.

We hope to see as many of our members, supporters and past players there, to support our lads.

Another opportunity missed to take home 3 points today in Sebastopol. A cracker of a goal in the first half from George Beaumont in the first half had the boys 1-0 up at half time. A well won penalty by Cam Anderson - which he converted had the boys 2-0 up in the second half. Then a penalty and an own goal had Sebastopol level with little time left to score a winner.
The Reserves won 1-0 thanks to a Finn Culbard goal.

Round 10 of the Veto State League 4NW has the Watsy boys making the long trip to Sebastopol to take on the Vikings!
A huge day out for those that make the trip and fortunate that we make the trip on the second last day of Autumn - before the weather really gets cold!
If you can make the trip, the boys will appreciate the support - otherwise we look forward to another tough competitive match against the lads from Ballarat!

A club doesn’t run without the support of volunteers. At a time where time pressures are a natural part of everyday life, having people offering their time for free is a very valuable resource.

As part of National Volunteer Week, the Club Executive and committee wishes to thank all of our amazing people who give up so much of their time for our football club. Your work never goes unnoticed.

Today we look back and focus on one of our volunteers, Mike Kalma.

He first arrived at Watsonia Heights Football Club back in 2014 when his son Harry joined U17s. He stepped in and became Team Manager. Little did he think back then, he’d be still involved at the club in 2026.

Between 2015 and 2016, he moved into Team Manager of Men’s SL4 Reserves and in 2018 was Team Manager for Men’s SL4 Senior Men’s. He then joins the committee and becomes Senior Club Treasurer.

Between 2019 – 2023 he moved into Coaching role and led the Men’s Metro 4 team.

Still a committee member, he moves into Senior Club Registrar role and in 2025, becomes the Whole of Club Registrar.

A long history with many hours given and as a club, so extremely grateful for.

Thank you Mike 🙏

Our Warriors are back home under lights this Friday night at Greensborough College Sporting Precinct.

We are under lights at Watsy Heights!

As the list of injuries reduces, the hunger and drive in the group continues with every session and match.

This weekend, is a rematch of sorts. These two teams played off in a pre-season friendly.

Our team will look forward and embrace the challenge given it's a very different squad from back then.

Head down and support your Warriors!
