Some groups come along and leave a mark that will never be forgotten, our U17s Rangatahi did just that 🫶

They will always hold a special place in the story of our rōpū as the first ever team of their age group to wear our jersey. They didn’t just represent us this weekend, they helped build something for those who will come after them.

Their campaign may have ended in the semifinals, but their efforts can never be measured by a scoreboard. They played with heart, courage and pride from the first whistle to the last. They stood tall in every challenge, backed one another, and left everything they had out on that field.

Most importantly, they represented themselves, their whānau and our jersey with mana. The way they carried themselves throughout this tournament is something every one of them should be proud of.

A special thank you to our sponsors , all our supporters and whānau who got in behind this team. Your support helped make this journey possible and gave our boys the opportunity to create memories that will stay with them for a lifetime. We are incredibly grateful to have had you alongside us on this kaupapa.

To our boys, thank you for everything you poured into this kaupapa. Walk away with your heads held high. You have left your mark and created memories that will stay with us for a long time to come.

This club was born around this group.

When these boys were U14s, they became the very first team to ever represent our kaupapa. Before there were traditions, before there was history, before there were teams coming through behind them, there was this group.

In many ways, they have grown alongside this club. As our dreams became plans and our plans became reality, these boys were there every step of the way, helping lay the foundations of what our rōpū is today.

With that comes a responsibility, whether they realised it or not.

Every training, every game, every challenge they faced helped create a standard for those who would follow. They taught us what commitment looks like. What resilience looks like. What it means to wear this jersey with pride and represent something bigger than yourself.

This weekend didn’t end the way we all hoped, but it doesn’t change how special this group is.

What we saw was a team that never stopped believing in one another. A team that played with heart, courage and mana. A team that represented their whānau, their people and their kaupapa in a way that made us incredibly proud.

The legacy of this team won’t be measured by a semifinal result. It will be seen in every young player who comes after them, following a path they helped create. Long after the final whistle, their fingerprints will remain on this club.
