I'm building a prototype for a premium version of the breastplates. In theory this should be the same thickness, pliability and flexibility as the current breastplates. It will be considerably lighter being less dense than current material (buoyant - floats on water). It has a 0.01% water retention rate. Rated as knife resistant and bullet proof. Be the same thickness as current plates but better impact and shock absorption. Extreme cut, puncture and abrasion resistance. Bulletproof and knife resistant ratings - used preferred to Kevlar being up to 30-40% more efficient across the board where heat above 150°c won't occur. 15x the tensile strength of steel. It's also UV resistant. Can be used around harsh chemicals. Thats it below, it's called ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. As far as I'm aware no one has ever done a plate 100% uhmwpe so in theory it'll be the strongest breastplate ever made pound for pound. The usual places you see this material is in bulletproof and stab vests, winch ropes (dyneema is a brand of uhmwpe), lifting slings and climbing sling/ropes. I've always wanted to build this plate but it's never been viable due to cost. Fingers crossed this works out has the potential to be a game changer🤞
