💙 Divisions update 💛
💙 FROM MIXED TO COMMUNITY DIVISION – WHY WE’VE MADE THE CHANGE 💛

GNA originally planned to introduce a Mixed Division for 2026.

After further thought, consultation and consideration, we recognised there can sometimes be a certain “mindset” around the term mixed netball that may create hesitation for some teams or limit participation.

Taking this into account, and aligning with Netball Queensland guidance where gender is not recognised until 13 years of age, we have made the decision to change Mixed Division to Community Division.

The Community Division has been introduced to provide a more inclusive and welcoming space for players, while still supporting fairness, safety and appropriate competition.

This allows boys aged 13 to 17 to continue playing netball in a structured competition, similar to what many are already participating in through their own associations, while also ensuring all-girls teams continue to have their own divisions available.

🏐 Why Community Division?

The Community Division has been designed to:

• Encourage greater participation
• Support inclusive playing opportunities
• Allow boys to continue playing within their age group
• Provide a more welcoming option for teams
• Maintain fairness, safety and balance across divisions

More information around the Community Division can be found in the Carnival Handbook

GNA remains committed to creating a competition that is inclusive, fair and enjoyable for all players, teams and associations. 💙💛
