Well, we tried some new things last weekend and it seems we are heading in the right direction.
PB of 152.28mph putting on 32mph in the last half which is the numbers we have been looking for.
Unfortunately had some engine issues I'm thinking is around plugs and fuel quality. This meant 3 losses the first 2 eliminators acceleration felt flat and each run lost 0.2 from qualifying.
The last run I dialed in a 9.8 thinking it might give me a chance and the bike come out of the hole in its usual way and it was definitely on song again so rather than back off and sand bag I rode it through and broke out by 0.4....lol
The other photo there is a special to me photo of Lillian Hagan putting me on to a good spot on the track and helping me stage. Lillian is now racing Street Bike and she is going places quick showing she is just as good on a street bike as she was on a Junior bike chopping the tree down and riding the wheels off it. I really appreciate that she takes the time to help an old fella get sorted.
I have to also say that the other super important team member, Casey Rose took out Street Bike on Saturday night after riding really well all day and getting to the final.
I probably wouldn't be able to get out there racing without Casey coming along and helping me pack everything, set up at the track, assisting me with the bike all day and then helping me pack up and hearing me whine about being so sore after a big weekend racing.
And he still finds the time not only race but take home the chocolates... Lol

Weekend Wrap Up – Benaraby Dragway All Bike Drags.

What a great weekend at the Benaraby Dragway All Bike Drags!
Unfortunately, after damaging the old Zed the weekend before, we couldn't race in Historical Bike. We still took it along for display, and we were lucky enough to be parked beside Darryl Hinson and the stunning Twinkle Taylor race bike. It was fantastic seeing such an iconic piece of Australian drag bike history up close.
Friday night gave us a chance to get some runs in on the Hayabusa. The track was in great shape and we rattled off a couple of consistent 9.3-second passes, which gave us plenty of confidence heading into Saturday.
First qualifier on Saturday delivered a new personal best of 9.205 seconds at 149 mph. On the return road I noticed the clutch wasn't quite right, and once back in the pits I found a broken friction plate along with a few damaged steels. After a quick clutch change we were back in business, and all three qualifying runs were solid and consistent, ranging from 9.20 to 9.27 seconds.
Round one went our way, although I nearly threw it away by backing off a little too early... lesson learned! 😂
Round two wasn't so kind. I spun the tyre off the line and just couldn't reel the KTM back in.
Round three saw us receive a bye after another competitor broke down. I dialled 9.25 and ran 9.256, so I was pretty happy with that.
Looking back, if I'd managed to win that second round, I most likely would have made the final on countback... by just 0.006 of a second! That's drag racing. 😂
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in running the event. Benaraby Dragway put on an outstanding All Bike Drags meeting. The event ran smoothly from start to finish, the track preparation was excellent, and the atmosphere around the pits was fantastic.
One of the real highlights of the weekend was catching up with Russell Clements, who I hadn't seen in over 40 years. That's one of the best things about this sport—it brings people back together.
Finally, a massive thank you to:
Casey Rose for helping me get to and from the track and looking after me in the pits.
Big Congratulations to Casey too for his PB of 10.42 on the Bandit.
Alan Herriman for all the help on the start line and in the pits.
My cousin, Chris Little, for making the trip down from Townsville to support me.
Now it's time to get the clutch sorted, freshen a few things up, and start getting ready for the next one.

New Coils installed and found a few other little issues that all may have contributed to the electrical issues we are having. Mind you I think we have said this before and although it's been better its not been fixed. Fingers crossed we will find out on the weekend it's all sorted.
Again I can't thank Lillian Cowdroy from Brisbane Motorcycles enough for getting those coils to me in record time. Brisbane Motorcycles have been awesome to deal with.

Well another weekend out at Benaraby Dragway.
Had a great time and got some laps down.
The Busa did a 9.31 off the trailer and then it went sideways from there. Between trying to find traction, false engine kills, unplanned shifts, a brain fart red light and another competitor playing silly buggers to say we were not competitive would be an under statement....
I'm still getting used to the slider clutch and I must say I'm really enjoying it, much more user friendly for my back that's for sure.
I've been slowly chipping away at a few electrical issues with the Zed and after getting a run in testing it seems I've sorted some of them but there is still an underlying problem that I'm yet to solve... I'm now thinking it might be a pick up maybe but I'll keep looking.
I'll post a video of the Zed and the Busa in the comments.

Had a great weekend at Benaraby Dragway with Francie Little and Casey Rose.
Had a bit of a fall during the week and a tooth out Friday so I wasn't in the best physical condition but with a new motor and still getting my head around the new clutch set-up still managed some good runs and a PB for the bike.
Got some good Data so we'll make some changes for next month
