Better late then never.
With carnage being run and won congratulations to the winners blowout.
Stage 1
Thursday morning, everything was pretty smooth sailing except we noitced the rear locker was not working during the stage. some investergation was done at camp and found that the lock ring was striped inside the locker. Lucky I had a spare welded rear centre🤣.
Stage 2
Friday morning heat one. We managed to break 1 hub, a winch battery and a tire, There was 5 compulsory winch walls that had to be done over the two heats and we got none in heat one. So back to camp and got her fixed up for heat 2
Heat 2
Knowing we had to push hard to get all the walls done in the time frame. So off we went We ended up doing another hub and also snapped the winch rope but finally we got up one winch wall. So off we go around the back of the property for our second lap. We start the hill climb out the back of the property right as we got to the top the motor said no more your done. With a good brain storming session and few phone calls back and forth between John Farmer Nicholas and myself. Farmer said " how the f@ am I going to get you down from up there " 🤣 to which i replied " I don't know " 🤣🤣 so he rattles up in the dozer to lower us down the hill and back to his shed where his son had some spare pistions and rings. So I guess we are rebuilding td42 at comps now. So we got stuck into pulling the motor down a few mates ran into mackay to get a few parts and a hone. Well we climbed into bed at 3 am Saturday morning with running motor
Stage 4
With a few naps taken in the car while waiting but everything went pretty good
Stage 5 was a fun stage quick stage
Saturday night stage
With needing to reuse the head gasket and lots of copper coat the motor decided to push water. So we took it easy and got all the heats finished.
Sunday the endruo
The game plan was to do one lap and park her up. We completed lap and everything was happy and not pushing to much water so we did another and another and so forth. Every 6 to 7 laps we pulled up to put a bit more water in
Everything was going well until the third last lap to quickly I remembered I did not organise spare fuel (because we were only doing one lap) and ran out on the rocks in front of the whole crowd 🤦🤦. We managed to cough it's way into the pit and found some fuel (thanks stelio) and got back out there and finished the endruo for the first time in years 😀
Once done i sat in the truck for a moment to reflect and though to myself wow what a weekend racing tha was!!
