A big day today at GMHBA Stadium, with the AFL and AFLW double header.

JEREMY CAMERON will make his return to football since suffering a horrible AC (shoulder) joint injury over a month ago. Three hundred gamer Mark Blicavs has been rested while Jack Martin and Sam De Koning also return. De Koning like Martin has been in and out of the AFL side featuring in the VFL. In bad news Ollie Wiltshire is out with a foot injury although it appears it was touch and go, while James Worpel will miss potentially the rest of the season with a hamstring.

In the AFLW match with St Kilda that kicks off at 5pm, Geelong has selected an unchanged side from the team that played North Melbourne in Round 1. Becky Webster is set to become the first Geelong AFLW player to reach 75 games for the club. Saint debutant Saoirse Lally will play her first AFLW game, while Darcy Guttridge returns after missing Round 1 with a back injury.

There is no VFL match for the Cats this week with the AFL-controlled VFL also adopting the ‘wildecard’ round – though in this case with 22 teams we can see their point. Geelong finished top of the ladder with sixteen wins from eighteen (why so few) matches. Richmond evidently forgot there’s no VFL draft finishing in twenty-first spot with just four wins. But there is VFLW action for the Cats playing a noon fixture against Carlton at IKON Park (Princess Park) today.

THE CATS have not so much swung the axe as with a scalpel at the selection table ahead of Saturday’s clash with Fremantle, dropping two players and losing a third to injury to accomodate the return of skipper Patrick Dangerfield and forward Jeremy Cameron along with youngster Mitchell Edwards. Two goals wasn’t enough for Ollie Henry to retain his place in the side, with Mitch Knevitt also dropped. Recruit from Hawthorn James Worpel misses with an infected finger (which on brand was not listed in the official AFL injury list).

This year you have to order your member stuff online - check your email.

Unfortunately they manufactured a much smaller quantity of caps and scarves as in the past 25 years and they've sold out. A "couple of thousand" are planned to be ordered but you won't be able to order these for another "couple of weeks". Genius when we've so far 65,000 members and had well over 90,000 in 2025.
