Congratulations to Wakehurst FC Life Member ~ Keith Pester OAM

Wakehurst FC proudly congratulates Life Member Keith Pester on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the King's Birthday Honours for his significant service to football administration.

Keith's contribution to football has spanned more than four decades. At Wakehurst FC, he served as President from 1980 to 1988, coached for six seasons and also contributed as a referee. His dedication to the club was recognised with Wakehurst FC Life Membership.

Beyond our club, Keith played a pivotal role in the growth of football across the Northern Beaches and NSW through more than 25 years of service with Manly Warringah Football Association and his leadership within Football NSW.

The strength of football in our community today is a testament to Keith's vision, leadership and tireless commitment. Generations have benefited from the opportunities and pathways he helped create.

Congratulations Keith on this well-deserved honour and thank you for your contribution to Wakehurst FC and the game we all love.

State Cup Results

Our WU18-1B girls are through to the State Cup Quarter Finals after two impressive performances, defeating Eschol Park 3-0 before producing a commanding 12-0 win over Maroubra United last Sunday.

Playing in a physical and highly competitive WU18 competition has tested the girls throughout the season, but those challenges have helped prepare them for the demands of State Cup football. The strength of the MWFA WU18 competition has clearly played an important role in building the squad’s resilience, confidence and match readiness.

The next challenge for Wakehurst is Lindfield FC WU18A. It promises to be a tough contest, with Lindfield having been last year’s champions. The girls are excited for the opportunity and will be looking to continue their strong State Cup run.

Well done team and best of luck 🧡⚽🖤

Our Wakehurst FC WU15/1s celebrated a fantastic Round 1 State Cup victory last Sunday.

Newly promoted to Division 1, the team showed incredible resilience and determination against Kellyville Kolts. After going behind early, the girls fought back to equalise before half time, then again late in the match after being reduced to 10 players following a red card decision.

The game went to penalties, where our replacement goalkeeper saved two penalties and scored one herself to help secure a thrilling 3-1 shootout win! 🙌

A brilliant team effort and great reward for the hard work and growth this group is showing each week.

We love getting your team photos and stories!! As we wrap up Female Football Week, we'd like to share our W18/1As.

They continue to impress with their hard work, determination and team spirit this season. Under the expert guidance of coaches Shawn and Adam, the girls have trained hard, supported each other and continued to learn & improve each week.

They’ve faced tough competition but continue to dig deep and earn great results through teamwork and effort, with Friday night’s 10–1 win another strong example of their commitment right through to the final whistle.

We’re incredibly proud of the way they represent the club with such a positive attitude every week.

Well done ladies 🧡⚽🖤

Our Women's VP, Rachelle, recently met with Michael Regan, Independent Member for Wakehurst and Chris Minns to discuss why we need County Road Reserve upgraded. The current lack of facilities means the field is severely under-utlitised.

Upgrading County Road Reserve would provide:
✅ Safer and more reliable playing surface
✅ Improved facilities for players, families, and spectators
✅ Better accessibility for all members of the community
✅ Increased opportunities for female football and growing participation
✅ Spaces that can be enjoyed year-round by schools, clubs, and local residents.

As our community continues to grow, our facilities need to grow with it. Investing in County Road Reserve is an investment in health, inclusion, grassroots sport, and community connection.

Thank you Michael Regan for continuing to advocate for better community facilities that benefit everyone 🧡⚽🖤

Celebrating Female Football Week

This week we celebrate the incredible women and girls who make our football community so special — players, coaches, managers, volunteers, supporters, and role models who inspire the next generation every single day.

Amy and Charlie are a wonderful example of the passion, dedication, and love for football that exists within our club community. This mother-daughter duo are what grassroots football is all about — supporting each other, getting involved, and sharing a love of the game both on and off the field.

From early mornings and training nights to cheering from the sidelines and creating lifelong memories together, women in football continue to play such an important role in shaping our club and our sport.

We’re proud to celebrate all the amazing females in our football family this Female Football Week.

See below to read more about Amy and Charlie’s and their contribution to our club.
