There's so much more to your mind than the conscious part that we operate in every day. Freud's theory on the parts of the mind helps us to understand this better.
Your Conscious Mind is the active thoughts and perceptions that you have about what is happening to you and around you. This is the part of your mind responsible for logical thinking and problem solving.
Your Subconscious Mind is made up of smaller Preconscious and Unconscious parts. This is the deep levels of your mindset and beliefs that were formed from before you were even born through until about the age of 7 years old, and based on what you saw and experienced - good and bad. This is where your beliefs and bias stem from and what your emotions and reactions are driven by. Something that you were told or observed as a young child may still play out for you today in how you view yourself, others and the world.
The Subconscious is where the "Self" identity lives. Self-worth, self-belief, self-confidence, self-doubt, self-awareness, self-enablement, self-sabotage. For those with self-limiting beliefs such as I'm not good enough, I can't do that, I'm no good at that, nothing good ever happens to me, if something can go wrong it will go wrong for me - this is coming from your subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind also houses how we see the world and others in it. What is your mindset about success, wealth, money, love, life in general? Is money the root of all evil and doesn't buy happiness? Are successful people arrogant and greedy and not very nice? Does anything good in life never come easy? Do you hear your parents or grandparents voices in some of your thoughts? Cultural backgrounds also show up in our subconscious thoughts.
The subconscious mind is why we set New Years Resolutions of things that we know we want to do/are good for us (conscious thinking) and yet we fail to achieve year after year. The subconscious mind is why we stop ourselves from chasing our dreams because fear and uncertainty takes over.
Understanding your subconscious mind and the thoughts and beliefs that make up your Mindset is the starting point to changing the trajectory of your life. You can rewire your brain to think and act differently, and thereby achieve different outcomes. New mindset = new results. Same mindset = same results.
Now imagine a team in your organisation where everyone understands their individual mindset and how to harness to achieve greatness? How the language we use in the workplace every day can change the energy and direction of success?
