One of the most watched games on the Australian baseball calendar is today π¦πΊ Here's what you need to know β¬
Itβs the 2026 Australian Little League Championship Gold Medal Game.
The winner advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, where this team of 10-12 year olds will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
They'll play against the best qualifiers from across the world in front of millions on TV, tens of thousands in the stands, meet MLB players, and be front and centre in parade across the town.
Our Baseball+ numbers back it up. This will be one of the most viewed broadcasts on our platforms. And why not? The stakes are high!
Ryde Red (Sydney) had win their last game of Pool Play just to reach finals. They took care of business in convincing fashion. In the semi finals, Aaron Dare tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit with 13 strikeouts.
It was a similar story for Central Firebirds (Perth).
Their tournament lives looked in doubt when they trailed 4-0 to Canberra in their final group stage game. This resilient bunch dug deep and rallied. Jacob Krawec had a two-out, two-RBI double to score a big time walk-off win that sent them to the finals.
Krawec followed it up by tossing a complete game in the semi-finals.
Both teams came from Pool A. Ryde won their first match-up 8-3 on Day 2. There's not much separating these squads, though.
Both teams enter with a 5-1 record. Ryde have allowed 22 runs, Firebirds 24.
Now they play again, but the stakes are upped. To add another later, both these charters lost this very game over the last two years. In 2024, the Firebirds fell to Ryde. In 2025, Ryde lost to Brisbane.
Who will represent Australia at the Little League World Series? Someone's dream is coming true today.
