A Very Special Shout Out to EBC's Gary "Goblin" O'Brien

We are thrilled to announce that Gary has been awarded a Service to Baseball Award from Baseball Victoria, in recognition of his "outstanding contribution, dedication and lasting impact" on the sport.
Gary has been a dedicated and passionate member of our Club since the mid-1980s, and his hard work and love for the game have left a lasting mark both on and off the field.

His resume speaks for itself. Over the decades, Gary has served as President, Secretary, Treasurer, Coach, and Grounds Manager, and for the past 20 years has been our Club Registrar. More recently, he has also taken on the role of scoreboard operator, not to mention the countless other tasks he quietly gets on with around the Club.

Gary is a two-time EBC Club Person of the Year, a BV Volunteer of the Year, and was awarded EBC Life Membership in 2006/07.

Much of Gary's work these days happens behind the scenes, but if you haven't had the chance to meet him, please take a moment to seek him out, introduce yourself, and say thanks.

Last Saturday saw our inaugural Essendon Winter Women’s Team take on Alfredton on the Chris Lane Field. The game finished with a 14-14 draw but there were lots of hits and plays along the way.

Opening round of this division was hosted by EBC and also featured Point Cook fielding their first ever Women’s team against Sunshine.

Congratulations to TeamVic for coming away with the Silver Medal after a hard fought game against NSW at the School Sport Australia Baseball Championships.

We are super proud of our EBC representatives - Marcus Murphy, Brody Stokes and Lachlan Condie (Assistant Coach). Brody also received the honour of being selected as a member of the SSA All Australian Team.

Baseball Victoria has awarded EBC Senior Mens coach, Luke Hughes, Coach of the Year for the 2025/26 Summer season.

Under Luke’s guidance, EBC won the coveted Premier 1 championship and featured in three other seniors finals series.

Luke is an incredible asset to EBC on and off the field, and we congratulate him on his outstanding first season as EBC Head Coach.

Big mid tournament shout out to EBC players currently representing Victoria in the School Sport Australia Baseball Championships in Adelaide - Marcus Murphy, Brody Stokes and Lachlan Condie (Assistant Coach).

TeamVic is currently sitting second in the standings and following a rest day games will continue Friday.
