Self defence begins with prevention, awareness and vigilence.
Unfortunately the world is not always how we would wish it to be. Predators are out there and its very easy to unwittingly post information online about your children that can potentially expose a their identity, location, and other personal details to a wider audience than intended, putting them at risk for cyberbullying, identity theft, and even potential exploitation by predators.
Here's a few suggestions for what you could do instead when sharing school pictures online.
Use a private group - to share photos with close family and friends, consider sharing them through a private messaging platform or with a limited group of trusted contacts.
Be mindful of details - avoid posting photos that include a child's full name, age, school name, school logos, or other identifying information.
Check privacy settings: regularly review your social media privacy settings to ensure that only authorized people can see your child's photos.
These are just a few ideas to help keep your child safe. Mindfulness is key.
