Come for the fitness. Stay for the community. 🖤💛❤️

We had a yarn with one of our Bowarring Movement family members Earl Handy about the importance of movement, fitness and having a strong community around you.

Earl grew up understanding the importance of health and fitness and knows firsthand how encouraging it can be to have people beside you while you work on yourself and your fitness. Earl grew up with family members, Uncles and cousins and family who supported him through his fitness journey and sporting journey as a young person, and he shares that Bowarring Movement can be that support if young people don’t have that in their own families.

For a young person who might just be starting out, building confidence or simply looking for a community to move with, having that support around them can make all the difference.

You don’t need to be a runner. You don’t need to be at a certain fitness level. You just need to come along, move your body and give it a go.

That’s what we want Bowarring Movement to be, a place where our kids, families and wider community can start wherever they’re at, feel supported and encouraged, and work towards becoming healthier and stronger together.

Because sometimes that first step is easier when you’ve got a community doing it with you. 🖤

Start somewhere. Move together. Keep going. 💫

What an amazing start to our Bowarring Movement Walking & Running Group 🖤💛❤️

Today we saw our community come together, kids, parents, families and friends, to move, connect and enjoy being out together.

What started as a planned 3km walk quickly turned into 5km when we reached the 3km mark and our crew said, Let’s keep going!🥹👏🏾🏃🏽‍♀️

But what made today even more special was that our walk became about so much more than movement.

Along the way, our sista girl Lowanna shared her cultural knowledge with us, showing our group the scar trees in the area and sharing stories and knowledge as we walked. 🖤
It was such a beautiful reminder of the beautiful Yorta Yorta Country we walk on.

These walks are about so much more than getting our bodies moving. They’re about our kids walking alongside their parents, families spending time together, sharing cultural knowledge and stories, building new friendships and strengthening the connections already within our community. It’s about walking, talking, laughing, learning and creating a space where we enjoy being together. 🖤💛❤️

We want these weekly walks and runs to become something our community look forward to, exploring different tracks around Echuca Moama, moving together, and creating time afterwards to mingle, yarn and connect with one another.

And this is only our first one. 🥹🙌🏾

Thank you to everyone who came along and made our first walk such a beautiful one.

5km together and plenty more to come. 🖤💛❤️

Our Bowarring Movement girls have been out on the netball courts playing in Grand Finals, finals, Round Robin comps and their final games of the season and we couldn’t be prouder of them!
We love seeing our young people involved in sport, being part of a team, staying active, building confidence and showing up for themselves and each other. ❤️

A huge congratulations to these girls who played with EDNA – Echuca District Netball Association in their Grand Final! 🏆

A very special congratulations to our little star Narlah Wright, who was awarded Best On in the Final! 🌟👏🏾 What an amazing achievement!

🖤💛❤️ Bowarring Movement Walking & Running Group starts TODAY!

⏰ 2pm
📍 Campaspe Esplanade Park, Echuca

We can’t wait to see our mob come together to walk, run, yarn and move together. 🫶🏾

Bowarring Movement will always be grounded in our Aboriginal community, our culture, our kids and families, but we also want this walking group to be a place where connections across our whole community can grow.

So our invitation is open to everyone who would like to walk alongside us.

We’d love to welcome our friends and allies, local businesses, sporting and footy clubs, health and wellbeing groups, running and walking clubs, schools and community organisations.

Bring your friends. Bring the kids. Come for a walk, have a yarn, meet someone new and share what you’re doing in our community and how our Aboriginal community can be involved, included and welcomed.

We want our mob to hear about opportunities happening around town, and we also want the wider community to get to know Bowarring Movement, our families and the positive things we are creating.

There’s no pressure to run and no fitness level required. Just come as you are and walk with us. 🖤

We hope these weekly walks become more than exercise. We hope they become a place for connection, conversations, friendships and stronger relationships across our community.

One walk at a time, let’s build something special together. 🖤💛❤️

Supporting and celebrating our deadly young people at the Campaspe Youth Awards 2026 tonight 🖤💛❤️

We are so incredibly proud to see our young people stepping up, believing in themselves and leading the way for one another.

Tonight, two incredible young Aboriginal men were recognised with awards for their commitment and leadership within our community. Both are already showing what leadership looks like through their schools, workplaces and community, and it was so special to see them recognised tonight. 👏🏾

We were also so proud to watch some of our Bowarring Movement girls perform with their newly formed dance group, Gitjika to Gitjika. Our girls have been working hard, coming together and learning this very special dance, and tonight they shared it so beautifully. 🖤
See the post for the story and meaning behind their dance.

A very special mention to Tegan and Vanessa for guiding these amazing young women and bringing them together for their dance practices. You have both done such a beautiful job supporting and encouraging our girls.

And another very proud moment, watching my nephew Munyari Wanganeen Johnson play the didgeridoo. Munnaz continues to blow us away with his talent and his ability to play the didge so beautifully 🥹🖤
So proud of you Munnaz! Munyari Wanganeen-Johnson

These are the moments that mean so much.

Seeing our young people come together to perform, move, connect with culture and community, learn from our Elders and grow into strong young leaders is exactly what we want to continue celebrating and supporting. You are all amazing!

Their leadership is already shining through, and we can’t wait to see the incredible people and leaders they continue to become.

Bowarring Movement is so incredibly proud of you all. Keep shining bright. 🖤💛❤️

Hey Echuca Moama mob 👋🏾🖤

Bowarring Movement is starting our weekly community walking & running group this Sunday! 🏃🏽‍♀️🚶🏾‍♀️🏃🏽

This is for everyone. kids, parents, families and community. All ages and all fitness levels are welcome.

We know there are lots of people who want to get moving and be more active, but don’t always want to walk or run alone. This is a chance for us to move our bodies, connect and do it together as a community. 🫶🏾

Each week we’ll choose a different walking/running track around Echuca/ Moama, giving us a chance to get out, explore different spots and keep moving together.

Come down, walk or run at your own pace and be part of the Bowarring Movement family. 🖤

Please note: Our weekly community walks/runs are separate from our Bowarring Movement youth sessions. Details for our next youth session will be shared in the coming weeks 😃
