๐๐โค๏ธ DRBVCC & GDCA MENTAL HEALTH ROUND โ TOGETHER, WEโRE STRONGER โค๏ธ๐๐
This weekend, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October, the Gisborne & District Cricket Association will come together for a league-wide Mental Health Round. At Diggers Rest Bulla Village Cricket Club, we want to go one step further and make this round about more than just cricket.
Mental health and su***de prevention are causes that mean a great deal to our club. We have sadly lost a number of players to su***de, and the impact of those losses continues to be felt by their teammates, friends, families and our wider cricket community.
For us, this is personal.
While this weekend provides an opportunity for the entire league to raise awareness, we want to use it as a reminder of the importance of looking after our own, checking in on our mates and making sure everyone in our club knows they have people in their corner.
At DRBVCC, we want to be more than a cricket club. We want to be a family built on mateship, respect, inclusion and genuine care for one another. A place where it's okay to speak up, where people feel comfortable asking for help, and where supporting each other matters just as much as what happens on the field.
๐ Check in on your mates.
โค๏ธ Listen without judgement.
๐ Speak up when you're struggling.
โค๏ธ Make time for the people around you.
You never truly know what someone is going through behind closed doors. A conversation, a phone call or a simple message can make a bigger difference than you realize.
๐ SATURDAY NIGHT โ BACK AT THE ROOMS
Following the senior men's games on Saturday, we invite all players, members, families and supporters back to the rooms to continue the evening together.
We'll be hosting a range of fun, competitive little games and continuing our fundraising efforts in support of this important cause. It's a chance to get everyone together, have a bit of fun and, most importantly, support something that means so much to our club.
We'd love to see as many people there as possible. The more people who get involved, the more we can do together.
This weekend, we remember those we have lost, stand alongside the families and friends who continue to feel their absence, and show our support for anyone who may be struggling.
No score, no wicket and no result will ever be more important than a person's life.
At Diggers Rest Bulla Village Cricket Club, you are more than a player, more than a teammate and more than a number on the team sheet. You are part of our club family, and you matter.
Let's use this weekend as the start of more conversations, stronger connections and a continued commitment to looking after one another, both on and off the field.
๐ One club. One community. Always looking after our own. ๐โค๏ธ
