The St Mary’s Cricket Club is super excited to announce that Harry ‘Horse’ Kidd has re-signed for the 2026/27 season!

Harry is a huge reason why St Mary's is such a great place to be around. A culture setter, a leader both on and off the field, and one of the best blokes you could meet, we’re incredibly lucky that H calls our club home.

On the field, Horse is a fiery right-arm quick. With a mix of 1st and 2nd XI games under his belt last summer, he'll be working hard to lock down a permanent 1st XI spot in the upcoming season—especially after finishing the year off in style with a massive 7fa in the 2s Semi Final.

The St Mary’s Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the return of Junaid Kari!

Junaid returns after missing all of last season due to work commitments. His presence and impact on the field and around the club were greatly missed.

The superstar needs no introduction. A Team of the Decade player and Turf 2 Premiership winner, the hard-hitting batsman and part-time leg spinner is going to have a huge impact on our 1st XI this season.

The mystery spin king is best known for his tight bowling spells and late-innings big hitting. He had a huge impact after coming into the 1st XI side last season, and he will be a key piece to the Saints' success in the 2026/27 season.

The St Mary’s Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the signing of bowling all-rounder, Mal Gamage!

Mal joins us from Silverton CC in Turf 2, having built an impressive resume in his short time in the DDCA. The big quick established himself as a dominant force in Turf 3, claiming DDCA Team of the Year honours in his debut season (23/24), before playing a vital role in Silverton’s Turf 3 Premiership win in 2024/25.

We can’t wait to see Mal taking poles and clearing the ropes in the Green & Gold this summer!

🇦🇺 FOUR CALLINGTON PLAYERS HEADING DOWN UNDER 🇦🇺

This is what cricket is all about. Opportunity and development. The chance to test yourself on the other side of the world!

We are incredibly proud to announce that James Brenton, Blake Tancock, Zak Newton-Jenkins and Matt Maynard have all signed for St. Mary's Cricket Club - Dandenong in Australia for the 2026/27 season in what is an unbelievable opportunity for four hugely talented young cricketers.

James, Blake and Zak have all come through our thriving youth section and now represent Callington in senior cricket. To see local players progress from junior cricket to earning opportunities overseas is something every person connected with the club can be proud of. 💚

Matt Maynard, who represents our Under 19s alongside playing senior cricket for Lewdown, will also be making the trip to Australia alongside his older brother Keith Maynard, who also plays senior cricket for Lewdown.

What makes it even more special is that all five lads will be experiencing this journey together at the same club. Heading out to Australia alongside teammates and friends makes an incredible opportunity even better and we know they will represent Cornish cricket brilliantly together.

A massive thank you to CricX for their incredible work behind the scenes in helping create opportunities like this for young players.

🟢🟡 5 New Saints 🟢🟡
Massive news out of Box Street! St Mary’s Cricket Club is ecstatic to announce the signing of five international players for the 2026/27 season.

What’s even better is that the group are all great mates hailing from Cornwall in South-West England. James, Blake, Matthew, and Zak all join us from Callington Cricket Club, while Keith arrives from Lewdown Cricket Club.

While we excitedly await their arrival later in the year, here is what to expect from the lads:

James Brenton

A top-order batsman who has risen through the Callington juniors to become a key senior player. Currently a member of the Cornwall County U19 squad, James brings youthful talent and energy to our top order. We’re excited to see him in action this summer!

Keith Maynard

A right-arm fast-bowling all-rounder who currently captains the Lewdown 1st XI at just 21 years old. Keith had a standout 2025 season, taking 28 wickets at an average of just 10.75 and amassing 498 runs at 45.27. A quality cricketer with proven leadership, he’ll be a massive asset to the Saints.

Blake Tancock

A right-handed wicket-keeper/batsman who made his Premier League debut at only 17 years old. In 2025, the talented youngster compiled 385 runs at 29.62. We are looking forward to seeing what Blake can do with both the bat and the gloves this upcoming season.

Zak Newton-Jenkins

Zak is a middle-order batting all-rounder who adds variety to the attack with his left-arm pace. Having recently made his 1st XI debut, Zak is a passionate cricketer who is sure to bring strong competitive energy and leadership to our playing group.

Matthew Maynard

A right-arm pace-bowling all-rounder and the younger brother of Keith. Matthew currently splits his time between Callington U19s and senior cricket at Lewdown. Over the past two seasons, he has amassed over 600 runs and 60 wickets across the 1st and 2nd XI. Another quality youngster who is sure to bring excitement to the club.

We can’t wait to see the impact these five guys will have on our club over the summer. We look forward to seeing them in action at Thomas Carroll Reserve in the green and gold!

🟢🟡RE-SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENT🟢🟡

No better news to start the week than announcing that our 2025/26 leading run scorer Ashan Anthony has signed on for the 2026/27 season.

Not only re-signing, Ish has also taken on the role of 1st XI vice-captain! Both Ish and Rob are committed to getting our 1st XI side back into finals cricket in season 2026-27 and beyond!

A club favourite, Ish has progressed through our junior ranks to now become a senior leader at the club. One of the most destructive batsmen in the competition on his day, he was our most reliable performer in the 2025/26 season, amassing 323 runs at an average of just under 30. He also provides a great left arm spin option for our 1st XI team.

🟢🟡Captain-Coach Announcement🟢🟡

A Saturday treat for you all! 💚💛

The St Mary’s Cricket Club is thrilled to announce that Rob Peat has agreed to take the reins as 1st XI Captain and Club Coach for the 2026/27 season!

No stranger to leadership at the club, Rob previously served as coach in 2019/20 and was a member of our 2016/17 Turf 2 premiership team. Beyond his history with the Saints, he boasts an impressive resume as a former Derbyshire County 2nd XI player and a Turf 1 premiership winner with Buckley Ridges.

A statement from the man himself:
“I’m honoured to once again take on the role of Captain-Coach at the Saints. I’m looking forward to working closely with our playing group and coaching staff to drive development, accountability, and consistent performance across all teams.
Our focus will be on building a strong, disciplined environment where players can improve, contribute, and perform at their best. With the talent within our club, the expectation is to be competitive across all grades and position ourselves strongly for finals.
The Saints have a proud history, and we’re committed to upholding those standards while continuing to build for sustained success. It’s about setting clear expectations, working together, and representing the club with pride. I’m excited about the direction we’re heading and the work ahead.

We wish Rob all the best as he heads back to the UK for the English summer before returning to us early in the preseason.

The club is in great hands moving forward, and we’re looking to get ourselves back into finals cricket in season 2026/27 and beyond.

Saints Return Home 🟢🟡

St Mary’s CC would like to thank our two English imports, Matty Barnes and Joey Snow, for their contributions to the club this past season as they head home over the next week.

Both boys were fantastic contributors both on and off the field. They instantly bought into our club's great culture and became group favourites. Matty was struck down with injury early on but bounced back later in the year to provide some fiery bowling performances and big hitting. Joey was a key contributor across the 1sts and 2nds, being a part of the 2nd XI semi-final appearance. His standout display came in the 1st XI Round 1 clash, where he produced a vital 41 runs and 2 wickets to earn 'Performance of the Round' honours.

We wish both boys all the best as they return home for the English summer, and we hope to see them back at Box Street in the future.
