🚨 FLARE RULES ARE CHANGING (WA) 🚨

From 1 Sept 2026, parachute flares won’t count anymore as required safety gear.

👉 Inshore (within 5 nautical miles / ~9km from land):
You’ll need:
• 2 × red handheld flares
• 2 × orange smoke flares
✔️ most inshore flare kits already cover this

🌊 Offshore (beyond 5 nautical miles / ~9km):
An inshore kit is NOT enough on its own

You’ll need to Upgrade to an electronic flare (EVDS) + GPS EPIRB/PLB

⚠️ this is why we arent selling the offshore flare kits anymore. If your safety kit still has parachute flares — you’ve got time, but don’t leave it last minute.

RST’s and HIN’s available.

It has been a while since we have made a post but just to let everyone know Luke is still completing Skippers Tickets from Dampier and HIN’s via his mobile service to Dampier/ Karratha and surrounds.

We are based in Dampier and Luke completes these around his shift work etc.

If you are interested feel free to send us a message and we can work out a date available that would suit you.

Anyone from 14 years of age upwards can complete an RST.

Cost remains $300pp

We are currently taking some time out from skippers tickets over the Christmas break and will recommence this service early next year, dates to be determined. HINS will still be available over this time.

We are currently Out of Office and will answer messages as we can. We have limited weekday spots available in September and can take names to add to waitlist for October to offer first options for dates once released for skippers tickets. We will also resume HIN’s on return from leave.

A lot of people whilst doing the theory test ask what a following sea is.

Here is an example of what not to do.

Always trim the Bow up, so the Bow doesn’t get pushed into the wave in front, once that happens you are no longer in control and you can see the results below.
