Get ready Foxes to make the trip out to the Croatian Sports Centre as this weekend we take on Croatia Raiders. With our First team playing Friday night and our Reserves and U18 playing on Saturday. It will be great to see as many Foxes as possible!!

Our collegiate teams have had a number of promising trial games in the lead up to the official start of the season. Our most recent trial on the weekend was against Brikalla, with a solid win by our A's, whilst Birkalla B's gave our B's defence a good work out with a convincing win.

Our season is underway & so it’s time to bring back our CUFC Faces which highlight the legends we have at our club. At Cumberland we are all here for the football but we also know it’s the people at our club who make us stand out from the rest. Let’s hear from Damo, as he gives us an insight into his experience as a regular Foxes Team Manager.

How did CUFC become your chosen club?
My Dad played football in England for Southampton in the 1950’s, so my son decided “that’s what I’m doing,” & Cumberland United was for him! He started with club legends Neil Young & Ray Dixon in the Goalkick programme as a 6 year old in 2015, plus a couple of his mates from school were already involved with CUFC.

How long have you been affiliated with CUFC? 12 years

What encouraged you to put your hand up as Team Manager?
I’ve always been the volunteer/help out type & I figured I’ll be at the games anyway so why not!

What do you love about being a Team Manager?
Definitely the adrenaline of being on the pitch getting around the lads & the action on game day as well as the fantastic relationships built up over the years with the players, parents, coaches & the Cumby community.

What is your favourite moment at the club for you and or your family ?
It’s a tie between winning the U/12’s Carl’s Jnr. Cup Final in 2021 against a higher fancied opponent, or the 2019 State League Final win for the seniors at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Any advice for new season TM’s?
Again, be organised & take the time to introduce yourself to the families of your team members, you’ll find getting help much easier during the season if you do. Go to as many seniors games as possible as well, you’ll meet awesome club people and it’s great for networking!

Anything else you would like to add?
Whether he’d like to admit it or not, you won’t get a better resource as a new Junior Team Manager than club legend Adrian Lamont (CUFC Junior Football Manager) for any concerns or questions. He’s put up with me bugging him for 12 years 😂
