Good morning!
Last minute but Josh and I are going to take advantage of the sunshine and head to Newhaven park at 1:30pm today with some basketballs. There are toilets and a bakery across the road for coffee/food etc

Myli - My Community Library are running events over the September school holidays as part of Youth Fest. Lots of activities to suit a range of interests - and most are free of charge - you just need to book/register.

The last photo is a quick summary of everything on Phillip Island and San Remo, but Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Waterline and Korumburra have a range of activities available as well if this is closer for your family.

Our local libraries are such amazing, inclusive spaces - please support these events so that they run more of them!

Just sharing some ideas for the upcoming school holidays - please feel free to share any other activities

Emma Memma Island Dance Party Show is on at The Union Theatre in Wonthaggi over the School holidays.
Sat 27th - two shows 10:00 and 12:30pm.

Tickets are $37.50 or carers with companion card are free to attend with 1 paid ticket.

Josh loves the Wiggles still many years on - and so far the only time he has sat in a theatre or cinema is for short Wiggles concerts. Even if your child is only half interested it is a great way to practice going to shows and events in a theatre/cinema setting.

We book the back row so there is some room to move without disturbing people behind us - and for an easy exit if needed. There are great wheelchair accessible seats available as well.

Hi Everyone! We have had varying ideas about best location/activity choice and schedule for our All Abilities Sports Skills Group.

This is a 4 minute survey - if you could fill it out and share this with any groups/parents/carers in the Bass Coast that you have in your network it would be really appreciated.

This should give us a good gauge to plan some regular activities that are accessible for as many kids/young adults as possible.

Our All Abilities Group is meeting at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Cowes tomorrow from 10-11:30am.

They have generously offered the space for us to use for our kids to run around and try some different sport activities this term.
We started the group informally to give kids with disabilities a chance to try a regular social/sporting experience once a week - but it has grown to a whole range of kids attending for a whole range of reasons.

To be clear - the sporting activities are run a bit haphazardly by mums, dads and carers who are also monitoring their own wildlings - and we now have an age range of 5-18 year olds attending.

Recently we met with a local accountant who has stepped us through the process of setting up the group as a NFP sporting group which gives us the chance to formalise things and access funding.

In addition to our regular catch ups - we could start to add:

- Sport coaches to take some fun, informal skills group training sessions as part of our regular catch up (for the kids who are interested.

- All Abilities Bowling Sessions with the legends at Phillip Island Ten Pin Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling & Entertainment Centre
-Dance sessions/Physical Fitness Sessions - with great music to dance to without too many rules
-Bike Ed training incorporating a range of accessible bikes and scooters
-Social catch ups to help familiarise our kids with dining out or having a quick milkshake or ice cream at a cafe or public space
-Family BBQ's and catch ups at local parks

The first step is for a group of interested parents/carers/community members to meet to discuss how this group will evolve.

Our group includes kids with disabilities, kids without disabilities who find mainstream sports tricky, siblings of kids of either description above, kids who like to help others etc etc.

SO if your kids would love a run around in the sunshine tomorrow at OLSS - please come along! They can join in as much or as little as they like. Just send us a quick message so we can look out for you when you arrive.

Sun will be shining tomorrow!! Looking forward to seeing everyone for some fun at Our Lady Star of the Sea tomorrow (Sat) from 10-11:30am.
We have all the balls and sporting equipment ready to make the most of their amazing outdoor playground and sporting facilities!
Please send us a quick message if you're attending so we can make sure we bring plenty of basketballs/soccer balls/gaga pit balls/cricket stuff and inflatable donkeys for everyone!! 😂

Happy Long Weekend!!

We have the space available at the school tomorrow for anyone who wants to come for a run around!

It may be windy/wet but if anyone is keen to rug up and brave it we will see you there!

Please let me know by commenting or message me directly if you are thinking of coming - lots of families away so we can postpone or find an alternative venue if no takers!!

Great News!

We have 4 upcoming dates for our group to catch up, play and socialise together.

Thanks to the team at Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School, who have offered their gorgeous outdoor space for us, we will be meeting from 10am-11:30am on the following dates:

Saturday 10th May (this weekend)
Saturday 24th May
Saturday 7th June
Saturday 21st June

There is an undercover area available in case of rain, and we will bring basketballs, footballs and a cricket set. The grounds are fully fenced and have a great playground for our younger kids to explore.

We need to keep a register of anyone attending - so please message if you are able to make it!

Looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces on Saturday!

Hi Everyone!

We have had a slow start to the year with re-starting our All Abilities group - sorry to have kept you and your gorgeous kids waiting.

The good news is that we are looking forward to re-starting our catch ups in Term 2!

We have some great suggestions for some changes to the program, and would love an opportunity to meet with any of our parents or carers who are interested in providing feedback on our new ideas.

If you are keen to join our group in Term 2, and would like a chance to give feedback on our proposed new program please send me a message and we will arrange a central catch up or online chat next week!

Last session today!!

We will be having fun at the YMCA on the basketball court from 1-2pm.

Please let us know if you are coming today as we will have a little Xmas gift for all of our superstars (ratbags)! If you can't make it we will get it to them next week.

Due to a private function - there will be no bowling after our basketball session today. Massive thanks to Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling & Entertainment Centre for sponsoring us, encouraging our kids, remembering shoe sizes and being all round legends! Your support this year has been invaluable!

Big thanks to all of the families who have supported our group this year - and the biggest thanks to the big and little legends who come every week with huge smiles, happy energy and who encourage each other so beautifully.

This little group sparks so much joy for everyone who is involved - stay tuned for exciting things next year!
