Capturing Round 8 📸

We’re now halfway through what has been a fantastic season, with plenty of great football and development across all our teams.

Round 8 kicked off on Friday night with our U14 Girls hosting a very strong Dalyston side. The girls battled hard throughout the match, but Dalyston proved too strong on the night and took home the four points.

Sunday saw the Red teams travel to Leongatha. The U12s continued their strong form with a great win, while the U14s fought hard but were unable to overcome a tough opposition.

Back at the kennel, the Blue Dogs hosted Wonthaggi. The U12s recorded another strong victory, while the U14s were involved in a thrilling contest against the ladder leaders. In a game that went right down to the wire, the Dogs were narrowly defeated by just one point.

It was also great to have our U18 Youth Girls playing at home. The girls put up a determined fight against MDU and showed plenty of spirit and effort throughout the game, but were unable to come away with the win.

As always, our youngest Pups put on a fantastic display of footy skills, teamwork and fun, continuing to show why junior football is so important to our club.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, team managers, volunteers and families for another great weekend representing the club. Go Dogs! 🐾💙❤️

Capturing Round 7 – MND Big Freeze Round

Firstly, a big thank you to Niv, our amazing U10 Blue Team Manager, for organising the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for MND Big Freeze. Thank you also to all the helpers and everyone who generously donated to this fantastic cause.

The Blue teams took on Dalyston and came away with a couple of great wins. To top off the day, some very lucky Doggies got the chance to “ice” their coaches in support of MND, providing plenty of laughs and memorable moments.

The Red teams travelled to Korumburra and both returned home with strong wins, continuing some great form across the club.

Our Youth Girls side travelled to Warragul and, despite a determined effort, unfortunately went down to a very strong Warragul Industrials outfit.
Congratulations to Tess Ricardo on receiving the Beau Vernon medal.

Our youngest pups once again put on a fantastic display of footy skills, teamwork and fun. The U10s enjoyed a couple of exciting games, with the Blue pups especially inspired by their supporters from the U14 team on the sidelines.

It was another terrific weekend for the Bulldogs, combining great football, community spirit and support for a very worthy cause. 🐶❄️🔴⚪️🔵

A little rain wasn’t going to stop the fun at the Kennel last night! 🐶🌧️

Our Under 10 Blue pups joined the Under 14 Blue Dogs for a fantastic combined training session full of laughs, teamwork and plenty of footy skills. It was great to see the older players helping the younger pups and everyone getting around each other despite the wet weather.

The night wrapped up the best way possible — with a snag or 3 and plenty of smiles all round. A great night enjoyed by players and coaches alike!

Capturing Round 6 🔴⚪️🔵

The footy weekend kicked off Friday night with our U14 girls taking on the Fish Creek Kangaroos in an exciting clash under lights, narrowly going down by just 3 points after a fantastic effort from the girls.

Sunday saw the Blue teams make the trip to Korumburra and return home with some strong wins after a great day of footy.
As always, our youngest pups put on a fantastic display of footy skills, teamwork and fun, lighting up the grounds with their energy and enthusiasm.
Back at the Kennel, the Red teams hosted Wonthaggi, with the U12s celebrating a terrific victory while the U14s battled hard against a very strong opposition.

Our Youth Girls were also putting on a show at the new-look Traralgon ground, taking part in the AFL Gippsland “Gather Round” against Drouin. The girls played a great game and fought it out right to the end, eventually going down by 16 points.

Capturing Round 5 🔴⚪️🔵

Excitement built for Friday night lights — Red versus Blue — and the opportunity to earn the honour of receiving the Beau Vernon Medal.

There was plenty of excitement in the rooms from our Under 10s, with many playing under lights for the very first time. Lots of skill, smiles and fun were on display, and our medalists Judd and Monty were privileged to receive their medals from Beau Vernon’s brother, Zac.

There was plenty of friendly rivalry and banter between mates across the night. With great skills on display from both sides, it was the Blue teams in both the Under 12s and Under 14s who came away with the wins.

It was fantastic to see everyone getting around our medalists — Leith and Ethan in the Under 12s, and Tij and Miller in the Under 14s.

Our Under 14 girls were also under lights on Friday night, travelling to Fish Creek to take on Leongatha. The girls were on fire and came away with a fantastic 21-point victory. Taeah capped off a great team performance by taking home the Beau Vernon Medal.

A terrific night celebrating footy, mateship and the spirit of the Beau Vernon Medal. 🏅

A lot of you may know Beau Vernon and some may have only just heard his story. But Beau is a reminder of why, as a club, we are so inspired to award the Beau Vernon Medal in our Red v Blue derby.
Beau grew up on Phillip Island and suffered a horrific injury during a football match that left him a quadriplegic.
Through incredible determination, resilience and the unwavering support of family and friends, Beau refused to let adversity define him. Since then, he has gone on to become a 3 x senior premiership coach and an Olympic medalist in wheelchair rugby.
His story is one of courage, perseverance and never giving up — values we hope our players carry every time they pull on the jumper.
