Ways to make it stick in 2026
Hands up if fitness and exercise has been a New Year’s resolution before 🙋♀️
And keep your hand up if you haven’t managed to stick with it beyond February…
You’re not alone.
I’m not here to make you feel bad — this happens to so many of us. Motivation is often sky-high for a few weeks, then life gets busy and something knocks you off course.
Because it’s all new and not a habit yet, one missed session turns into two… then three… and before you know it, a month has passed and you feel like you’re back to square one — only worse, because now there’s that horrible feeling of failure.
I get you. I’ve been there many, many times.
But here’s the good news: it IS possible to make exercise part of your life long-term.
Here are my top tips for making it stick — month in, month out:
1️⃣ Get support — this is where I come in
Doing it alone is hard. Really hard.
Use me. Use my knowledge, experience and support. I’ll help you find what works for you, cheer you on when motivation dips, and keep you going when life gets busy.
Sometimes the difference between stopping and sticking with it is simply knowing someone has your back 💗
2️⃣ Be “all or something” — not “all or nothing”
Something will always be better than nothing. A short walk, a lighter session, or showing up tired still counts.
3️⃣ Be realistic
If your plan doesn’t fit your life, it won’t last. Choose something sustainable, not extreme.
4️⃣ Make exercise fit around your life
It needs to stay there through busy weeks, stressful periods, holidays and low-energy days.
5️⃣ Have a plan, create a routine — and aim for consistency, not perfection
You don’t need to smash every session. You just need to keep coming back.
6️⃣ Find your why
Dig deep for motivation that lasts.
If it’s just to drop a few kilos for a holiday, chances are it won’t last.
But if you do it for how it makes you feel, to build strong muscles and bones, for heart health, mental health and everything in between — that kind of motivation goes the distance.
7️⃣ Make it enjoyable
Find ways to turn exercise into something you enjoy doing rather than a chore.
For me, that’s being part of a group. I love the social side of exercise — feeling supported, having a laugh, and being part of a community.
That’s exactly why my strength training sessions and Mama Bootcamps are sooooo good for consistency 💗
